Why do Ex-JWs start celebrating pagan Christmas?

hiya guys and gals.

im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??

it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!

used to think "how can parents just out and out lie to their kids about Santa?"

I have pictures of my son with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Do I relly need to worry about it when he finds out they aren't real?

Recent assembly

1) stop using internet,facebook,myspace,email,texting and spend more time studying and in service.. my mate quit their facebook page when we came home lol.

2) maybe i am just more tuned into it now, but they mentioned "apostate" a lot more this time around, espicially when talking about the internet.. it keeps me thinking, if there is nothing to hide, then why is there such a big push not to look?

it's like an ugly girlfriend not wanting her boyfriend to look at the girls on the beach .

my mom told me that she heard a recording of some of the assembly and they really hit hard on the above mentioned things and anything that can take precious time away from the ministry.

(even she sees it's too much control)..

If they did this they may get some real service done, I never saw this. I thought the point of not calling was to be able to sit in the car and get to break time faster.

It still looks like a Book Study to me, with the bible as just a footnote.

This is the crap my mother just loves.

Look at the "sources", an anti vacine website, a wacko health food site, corpwatch is nonsense anti- Consumerism and rense.com is a general tinfoil hat wacko nutjob site. Sounds like good sources for an Awake article.

If you research it fruther there are other studies that says there was no connection between squalene and gulf war syndrome.

I have nothing fruther to say, I am always arguing this crap with my family as it is.

Assembly Parts NEVER made sense to me....!!!!

this is and always has been one of my biggest gripes: assembly parts/experiences.

not 1....ever......e-v-e-r was even remotely relatable to me.

now i have traveled all over the place (and to other countries) and i have sat amongst rich and poor jws, suburbanites and urbanites, siddity folks and straight 'hood'.....and not 1 assembly experience made me sit up in my seat and say "wow - that's just like me!".

this past summer DC a middle aged couple spoke about how they both lost their jobs.

Interviewer:"so what did you do?"

Couple:"We decided to pioneer!"

Lots of applause from the middle class in attendence while I picked my Jaw off the floor.

Oh, dont't worry, before leaving the stage and right after his closing comments he mentioned "Brother" finally got a new job.

Maybe they are like several pioneers where i grew up, living off food stamps to pioneer, what a wonderful example.

the elders are imperfect that is why there are problems.

we just need to endure because jehovah is allowing this as a test to see if we will still love him.
