20+wastedYRSWelcome.You will love it here, always some one to talk to....I'm not much help but I remember the study you are talking about. It has been in the last 2 years, not long ago.In fact we have had a lot of articles that tell us we must be obedient to the GB.More then we used to...Glad I'm fading out.....

New "apostate" here! Recent WT study- 'We may ask you to do something that may not understand' (basically- DO IT)
by 20+wastedYRS ini will get to the big shocker that i read within the last year or two in a wt study article, so please bear with me... i am new to this forum and have been reading postings for several days now, and can relate totally to many of the issues that many ex-jw have.
i was raised "around" the truth and although my parents were never "dipped", they wouldn't allow us to celebrate holidays or stand for natl anthem (not that i care now).
so i basically had many of the pressures and stress that witness kids had growing up, but with no spiritual support, as we attended only a handful of meetings while my parents studied when i was 5or6.

Once inactive, do u need to meet with elders to go out in service again?
by Iwonder17 inso i haven't been turing in my fake field service hours for 3 months now.
i think that it is 6 months and then you are counted as inactive.. my question is, once i am inactive, would i need to meet with the elders again to be "active" if i decided to turn in time again, or do i just start going out in service again?.
although i am fading, i want to keep my options open to make things easier down the road.

I need your opinion, helping a love one see the light
by tjlibre inill have a long weekend this week because of the thanksgiving holyday.
i made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to awake my wife.
i dont plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of we are living this organization, rather, im taking the approach of here is some information that we should consider and think about.

Well with all that information, you convinced me.But I agree with creativhoney,- if someone leaves the JW org its not because someone told them to, its because their heart told them to, ergo they led themselves away and no one else is responsible for it.Of all the information my husband said to me to convince me,in the end it was my own conclusion that I listened to.Pick on something she is concerned about .Stay awake to her comments.Be patient.Good luck my friend..

would you ever forget your life as a JW?
by highdose inand would you want to?
its starting to seem like a distent memory for me, even though its only been a year.
-

I don't think you can forget even if you wanted to.Being a JW effects your life forever more.Life decisions are made when your a witness, that you have to live with. The fact that so many are on this board years after, they can't forget.

What has happened in the last 10 years since i left? Scandals? Doctrine changes?
by Aussie Oz ini have been out since 1998 and have rarely seen another jw since.
i didn't leave because i found anything wrong, i just didn't want to live the life anymore.
i still defended the witnesses at times.

They keep making small changes in the expressions.Book study-now bible study-family study now-family worship night.Lumping all the meetings.Bible study, ministry school, service meeting all the same night. The public talk is 30 min, followed by watchtower study 45 min.Meetings are shorter to make more room for STUDY and ministry...I can also remember the DC one of the GB saying they made some errors, they thought we would be in new system by now....This is wonderful information from all of you...Thanks. These aren't really doctrine changes but still changes.

Did you Exit the Witnesses Gradually - Or Exit Suddenly - Your Reasons ?
by flipper ini thought it would be good to discuss it to understand what caused some of us to exit suddenly, or some to exit gradually .. myself , i had been in 44 years , had mentally had doubts for years before exiting - but injustices by the elders and my doubts about the " generation " doctrine led me to exit suddenly one night before a meeting.
the elders pissed me off , i went to my seat, picked my books up and walked out - never going back.
so what is your story and reasons ?

I think this will be a good post for us all,I'm looking forward to hearing what people have to say because I'm in a slow fade now.Tonight is meeting but I'm not going.Don't want to go.I have a son that I don't want to let down.My other grown kids are out.I have a bible study that lives next door to me.I don't want to hurt her.I have turned the study over to another sister.I have her to think of her too... I want to make some comments to her with out her knowing what I'm doing.I need to be careful so she doesn't tell her teacher.I want to fade on out with out any problems with elders.Sometimes there are many reasons to fade slow.

Do any of your friends worry you will go back?
by creativhoney inhello all.. in thes spirit of another thread i read where the boyfriend was badgering our poster about the religion saying he wanted her to forget it and not go back... do you have friends that worry?
my best friend is always asking me... do you think you will go back?.
do you think its because when we were in we so vehemently proclaimed we believed it?

I did fall away for several years and went back...The control is still effecting us even when we fall away.It is good to read a lot when you are fading...It is understandable the people we are close to wonder if we will ever go back..No one can understand except those of us that have been part of it.
