  i do not have my watchtower cdrom installed on this box.

  i recall a quote by the watchtower some years back that said in effect;.

  "if you teach your kids about santa claus, and they find out it was all a lie, they might begin to think that what you taught them about jesus is also a lie.".

  If You Leave The Organization Where Else Must You Go?

  it seems the watchtower leaders believe that if you were to think about leaving the organization (and listen to "apostates") that you must have a place to go in return.

  they feel you must have something, if you were to not accept the organization.

  you need hope and belief in something.

  minimus: So what do you say to JWs that tell you "apostates" will just take away your beliefs and hope and give you nothing else in return?

  I might ask what if I had a malignant brain tumor severely limiting my life and a doctor helped me to get rid of it...

  this is not a bible teaching.

  the bible says the opposite.. adam was created physically imperfect or he wouldnt have needed to be put out the garden so as not to be able to eat from the tree of life-.

  adam was created morally imperfect or he wouldnt have failed his first test.

  Would the WT$ outright lie?

  in another thread the question of whether or not the wt$ would "outright lie" was raised.. i happen to believe that they would in a heartbeat, although i agree that their preference is for sneaky misleading statements as opposed to outright lies.

  regardless, here's a short list of some of what i consider incontrovertible evidence that yes, the wt$ would outright lie.. .

  consider the following statements printed in the wt magazine:.

  A close relative of mine, who had not attended the meetings for a long time, for more than a year, got a 'friendly' telephone call from a local elder. After a long 'conversation' on this and that, the purpose of the call became evident. The elder asked if she had "told about the truth to somebody recently, just to anyone, just a few words..."

  A possibly unrelated thing: There was soon to be a visit by the circuit overseer in the congregation.

  So I think they would and they do. Perhaps telling outrageous (outrighteous?) lies is intentional tactics. With those obvious lies they smoke out independent-thinking individuals who would be difficult to control and a threat to the mindless flock. Just read your Machiavelli.

  but they ignore the many atheists in the world as they do so.

  i have been coming more and more to terms with the fact that i don't blieve there is a god out there, gradually i am accepting this..
