Should the Pope resign?
by slimboyfat inquestions are being raised about whether pope benedict was personally involved in covering up a case of child sex abuse by a roman catholic priest.
documents seen by the new york times newspaper suggest that in the 1990s, long before he became pope, he failed to respond to letters about a us case.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/8587082.stm.
that would prove the catholic church is capable of reform, no?

Why Women Are Crabby
by Lady Lee inwhy women are crabby.
we started to 'bud' in our blouses at 9 or 10 years old only to find that anything that came in contact with those tender, blooming buds hurt so bad it brought us to tears.
so came the ridiculously uncomfortable training bra contraption that the boys in school would snap until we had calluses on our backs.. .

LL - I've been thinking about this all afternoon about the idea of sexual peaks - and what you said about the 18 in men vs 40 or so for women. It may have something to do God's design of natural birth control. When I was say 35 and below, I always found older women attractive. Was even married to one. Now that I've hit 3 score I'm not interested in anything within 25 yrs of me. Nothing personal about it. It's just older-younger has a definite attraction. BTW - the most effective method of birth control for women over 50 is nudity. LOL

Heard something very interesting yesterday having to do with female subjection. Originally Adam and Eve were equal in terms of perfection so there was no need for subjection, but because Adam's sin was not due to succumbing to supernatural temptation, whereas Eve's was, it meant that Adam's fall was greater and made Eve and womankind morally superior, and in a lot of cases intellectually superior to man. Thus to even things out, woman must humble herself which is against her nature of wanting to be equal. That combined with her own imperfection makes things rough. I don't know if it's true or not, but I find it interesting. Carry on.

You must not eat any "FAT"
by juci32 inif the witnesses follow the old law of "not eating blood" (even though the bible is pertaining to animal blood) then why do they not adhere to the command to avoid fat?
in leviticus 3:17 it states: 'this is a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live: you must not eat any fat or any blood.'".
there is fat in almost every meat we eat.

Secretive Catholic Order Founded by Accused Pedophile Under Fire
(March 14) -- "As sex abuse scandals rock the Vatican, the results of an investigation into a rich, ultra-conservative and secretive Roman Catholic order founded by a priest accused of pedophilia and incest are due to be filed in Rome tomorrow.
The sordid story of the Legion of Christ, whose late founder, the Rev. Marcial Maciel Degollado, was a close ally of Pope John Paul II before being forcibly retired by the Vatican in 2006, is a microcosm of the crisis currently enveloping the church.
At stake is whether Pope Benedict XVI will decide to take over the Legion and install new leaders from the outside or allow it to continue with its same hierarchy. Five bishops from five countries are expected to submit their reports about the Legion Monday.

Pope John Paul II gives his blessing to Rev. Marcial Maciel Degollado, founder of the Legion of Christ, at the Vatican in a November 2004 file photo. The late pope once called Maciel "an efficacious guide to youth."
The controversy over the Legion, which is now barred or severely restricted from operating in six U.S. dioceses, is especially awkward for Benedict because he wants to have John Paul, a staunch defender of the order, canonized.
"Maciel was a sexual criminal of epic proportions who gained the trust of John Paul II and created a movement that is as close to a cult as anything we've seen in the church," said author Jason Berry, one of two reporters who broke the Maciel story in 1997 and who directed a 2008 documentary about the priest called "Vows of Silence."
"But he got away with it for years and still in a sense he's getting away with it."
The Vatican ordered a worldwide investigation into the Legion, founded in Mexico in 1941, last year. But its response to decades of allegations involving Maciel has been as slow and often reluctant as its reaction to the long-festering sex abuse scandals now erupting in Ireland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
In 1997, nine former high-ranking seminarians accused Maciel, who died in 2008, of sexually abusing them when they were boys training for the priesthood. Last year, it was discovered Maciel had an illegitimate daughter born in 1986 in Spain. Two Mexican men who say they are Maciel's sons claim he also sexually abused them as children.
With a leader said to be a manipulative monster who built a shadowy but powerful organization for elite, wealthy Catholics with schools in 22 countries – and a tradition of grooming handsome, clean-cut priests who all wear their hair parted on the left and black double-breasted suits -- the Legion of Christ sounds straight out of a Dan Brown novel.
But while Opus Dei, the other controversial conservative Catholic order, was made famous in Brown's "The Da Vinci Code," the Legion of Christ is virtually unknown to most Americans – at least on the surface......................"

A SACRED ASSEMBLY OF MEN [/img]
On October 4, 1997, the Promise Keepers Organization hosted a Sacred Assembly on Independence Mall in Washington, D.C. Promise Keepers invited men of all faiths, including Roman Catholics, Mormons and even Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam to attend this ecumenical worship service. It is estimated that 500,000 to one million men were in attendance for prayer, worship, repentance and reconciliation in the great mall which surrounds the Washington Monument. The cherished monument, before which the multitude often knelt, is a 555-ft/169-m obelisk acclaimed as "one of the world's tallest masonry structures and Washington's foremost landmark." Few of the Christian men attending the Sacred Assembly would understand the religious significance of the obelisk, which historically was an object of heathen worship.
The history of the Washington Monument, according to the Smithsonian magazine, reveals that the project was from its inception the focus of intense controversy. Although the monument was authorized by Congress in 1833, the cornerstone was not laid until 1848 and the obelisk was not completed until 1884. During this period of fifty years, the project was disrupted by the Civil War and delayed by congressional debates and public protest. The Smithsonian states that the undertaking was eventually financed by a private society rather than the federal government. 1.
The National Park Service conducts the National Historic Landmarks Program which provides on the Internet a history of the Washington Monument. On the sidebar of the Home Page, the category "Masonic Stones" yields an interesting page detailing the involvement of the Masonic Order in raising funds for the monument, laying the cornerstone and performing official Masonic ceremonies for the laying of the cornerstone and final dedication of the monument.
There appears to be an active interest in obelisks on the part of the Masonic Order. A book published by the Freemasons titled Obelisks provides detailed information on the Babylonian origins of Masonry and many ancient obelisks around the world. Two of these were removed from Egypt a few years prior to the completion of the Washington Monument -- one was placed in London in 1878 and the other in New York in 1880. 2.
The Smithsonian article alludes to the fact that "monument building runs against America's democratic and puritanical grain" and vilifies the Know-Nothing Party which intensely sought to contravene the building of the Washington Monument. It may be that this opposition was generated by Christian "extremists" who understood the symbolism of the obelisk and the occult character of the secret society which financed its construction. There also seems to have been considerable opposition to a block of marble donated by the Pope. A Catholic predilection for obelisks is documented in Ralph Woodrow's Babylon Mystery Religion, Ancient and Modern, which explains the origin and also the significance of obelisks as follows:
Babylon Mystery Religion
"Among the ancient nations, not only were statues of the gods and goddesses in human form made, other objects with a hidden or mystery meaning such as obelisks, were a part of heathen worship.
"Diodorus spoke of an obelisk 130 feet high that was erected by queen Semiramis in Babylon. The Bible mentions an obelisk-type image approximately nine feet in breadth and ninety feet high: 'The people…fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up' in Babylon (Dan. 3:1-7) But it was in Egypt (an early stronghold of the mystery religion) that the use of the obelisk was best known. Many of these obelisks are still in Egypt, but some have been removed to other nations -- one is in Central Park in New York, another in London, while others were transported to Rome…
"Placing an obelisk at the entrance of a heathen temple was, apparently, not an uncommon practice at the time. One stood at the entrance of the temple of and another in front of the temple of Hathor, the 'abode of Horus' (Tammuz).
"Interestingly enough, there is also an obelisk at the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome… It is not a mere copy of an Egyptian obelisk, it is the very same obelisk that stood in Egypt in ancient times! When the mystery religion came to Rome in pagan days, not only were obelisks made and erected at Rome, but obelisks of Egypt -- at great expense -- were hauled there and erected by the emperors. Caligula, in 37-41 A.D., had the obelisk now at the Vatican brought from Heliopolis, Egypt, to the circus on the Vatican Hill, where now stands St. Peter's. Heliopolis is but the Greek name of Bethshemesh, which was the center of Egyptian sun worship in olden days. In the Old Testament, these obelisks that stood there are mentioned as the 'images of Bethshemesh' (Jer. 43:13)!
"The very same obelisk that once stood at the ancient temple which was the center of Egyptian paganism, now stands before the mother church of Romanism! This seems like more than a mere coincidence." 3. http://watch.pair.com/asa.html[/b]
