John Davies subsection b. sets a time limit of 4 years against someone who directly aided in the abuse. The time starts to run when the victim turns 18 or when the person first recognizes that the abuse has caused harm.

It seems like you have a case against your ex, or rarther your daughter has, for directly aiding the abuse, since he knew your father was an abuser but still went behind your back and allowed contact.

The infuriating thing is that you and I both know that your ex would never have allowed such contact had he, and your parents, not been Jehovah's Witnesses. The brainwashing makes them see a jw mass murderer as a more trust worthy person than a worldly charity worker. In that sense it *is* the fsult of the WTBTS that he allowed contact, but I guess Zalkein knows best. Im very sorry. Unless the abuse happened at, say, a book study I guess there is not much to be done against wtbts.

since leaving the faith i have come to accept the facts and reality of evolution.

and of course i've read much about comparative anatmony and how it helps us to see the links between our common evolutionary ancestors.

however, its another thing to see it live in 3d.

I love to see the shows on TV when they get an animal death (sadly, it's always natural though) and they point out some comparative anatomy for us. For instance a whales vestigial leg, or a horse's wrist, the fins of a dolphin where you can so clearly see the digits...same with a bat. I mean we all are "one kind" truth be told.

But if you ereally want to see the indisputable face of evolution, literally, go see the skulls and especially teeth of some of our hominid cousins. Homo habilis, Homo Egaster, Homo Erectus, Neaderthal man, Homo florensis....you can clearly see they are *not* apes when you look at the position of the skull to the spine, look at the teeth ( I always think this is the most fascinating area). Even studying the australiopithecines (? Spelling), these are clearly not like modern apes (bi-pedal)yet not hominid. Just the smallest time spent looking, reading and comparing will blow your mind that there were many different kinds of human...now all gone except for us.

And the creepiest thing is they died out around the same time we arrived on the scene. Yes, other factors like climate could have come into play but given our history it doesn't look good for us.

Yea, I guess JW women of today are better off than their first century counterparts. And much better off than their ancient Israelite counterparts.

Except, of course, there were ancient Isrealite female JUDGES, isn't that exercising pretty big authority ( looking at you Paul) & prophetesses and 1st century Christian women were ministerial servants ( Pheobe) and Apostles (Junia) . Apostle means messenger and Pheobe was entrusted to bring messages to the congregations, too.

Given the era we live in I believe jw suffer the most prejudice of any Christian religion and arguably any religion. Given the least respect as they are purely drudges to Watchtower.

As Stan says, too, can JW women with a head covered now PROPHESY? Wonder if they'd do a better job than The GB??

Generation

please could someone explain to me what the generation thing i keep seeing in people's threads was that had lots of people leave the wts coz it was way before i became a witness.

I don't know how they can change a generation from 20 to 80 years when if I was with my mam and daughter we'd say we were 3 generation's.

JrJW you got it in one. Watchtower would say you were one " overlapping" generation. And so with that they can say the generation that saw 1914 could still be around in 2060, say. You are going to have to carry to torch for us as we will all be gone when that year rolls around so we need you to remind everyone what they said back in this time!

The “Most High” allocated Yahweh to Jacob

deuteronomy 32:8-9 describes the most high (god) apportioning the nations to the gods according to “the number of the sons of israel/gods”.

one can argue over the niceties of the meaning of that expression.

of interest is that the “most high” allocated jacob to yahweh (“jehovah”).

I know what heinotheism is, is it a similar meaning?

Also, there is quite a dramatic difference between the NRSV's "according to the number of the God's" and translations giving it as " according to the number of the sons of Israel" etc. I know this is one of the famous OT scriptures that hints at polytheism - have you had a look at Strongs or anything else that may indicate the true meaning? Why such a discrepancy? Is it that some texts were redacted and some not? Sorry to bombard you! I just find it fascinating!

There's no doubt that Judaism as we understand it ( the old type not Rabbinical) began after they returned from their Babylonian " education", I believe Israel Finklestein found much physical evidence for polytheism in his digs ( chap from " The Bible unearthed", I'm sure you know about it). So that evidence certainly fits in with the poly or heinotheist camp. In this case, then, El and Yahweh are two different God's.

What do you think about the idea that Baal and Yahweh are one and the same God? Is there much evidence for that? I am unclear?( I believe Mikey of Kim and Mike has been causing a storm among the Christians by claiming they are the same and that therefore - gasp! - Yahweh is Satan!! I swear that guy is just steps away from discovering that it's all fantasy).😁

it`s always a buzz to see this with the naked eye and know that their are human beings orbiting the earth a couple of hundred miles up every 90 minutes or so .. the wife and i were just sitting out on our porch/patio waiting for the cool change to arrive when i noticed this "star" moving across the sky in a se/nw (?

) direction { i hope that`s right }.

anyhow i thought some others on here may be interested in tracking the iss from time to time.. by the way the cool change hasn`t arrived here yet it`s still quite warm though not as hot as it was today at 41 deg c.

This stuff gets me so excited. I get a kick just reading your posts.😁I've had a look at the space station tracker but never been quite sure if I've seen it, living in light poluted city.

The kids and I have enjoyed watching the iss live feed and some of The you tube videos they post ( especially anything featuring hair LoL).

I've had my eye out for a reasonably priced telescope, but they don't depreciate much and there's always something else needs buying with kids. One day I'll get there and join a local club.

Do you feel like running away in fear? or Do you sense the danger of being instantly mind-controlled and brainwashed if you even pass by the cart?

So are you saying watchtower isn't a mind control cult??

And yes. They do pray on vulnerable people who then give over *their whole lives*, think about it ,their whole lives and that of their children (if they feel permitted to have them)to serving a publishing company.

Their literature *is*extreme, if not extremist. When I hear of suicides, as I heard of a 25 year old who took her own life this week, being trapped in the cult, it's very hard not to want them banned in order to protect the next generation.

I don't apologize for feeling that way even if Kohanic was kind enough to.

's should abhor & shun all of the following traditions and practices due to their pagan/demonic origins - especially using the names of weekdays and several of the names of months.. “it was believed that sneezing was the way for the body to rid itself of the devil's evil influences.

You can imagine the upper classes coming back after their Babylonian education, looking down on "the people of the land" and all their customs, as indeed they did.

hi gang, i'm a single mother of an 8 month old baby boy.

i've been df'd for over six years now.

my parents are super dubs and most of my siblings are dubs (on paper - a couple have been inactive my entire life but still claim to believe) with the exception of a brother who was never baptized.

Another detail to take note of: the scripture says, “But now I am writing you to stop keeping company with anyone called a brother--” so when one decides to leave the WT organization, they are no longer considered a “brother” or sister. How can this apply to ones who have disassociated? This scripture has nothing to do with refusing to say a greeting to these people in public or shunning them even in private (refusing contact).

Wake-me -ups rebuttal Is brilliant and I would urge you to show your parents, adding that *their* conscience should be their guide, no one else's.

It also occurred to me that this is talking about " brothers", NO WHERE does it mention to do this to family members.

Why do ex-JW's talk so much about being ex-JW's?

is it because we were in the cult watchtower compound that we talk about being ex-jw's when we stop being active?

i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.

they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.

Putting it bluntly, because they were not suffering under undue influence in their lives. They did not have their autonomy restricted by an organization that claimed to love them but in actual fact was extremely damaging within every aspect of their lives.

In other words, they weren't in a cult.
