Is jehovahs-witness.com legitimately and reliably independent of WTB&TS and peripheral, aligned entities?

i am new to this forum and uncertain that this is legitimately and entirely independent of conniving jw controllers or the wtb&ts and its related entities.

markers like the use of jw.org in the forum description and the policies seem controlled/controlling vs other xjw forums.

this is not an accusation, it is an attempt to know enough to be comfortable with motives of the ownership and controllers of the forum.

I don't think Watchtower really keeps this website under their radar as nothing of significance is really posted here in the way of leaks. Watchtower seems to be more concerned about Reddit and YouTube, as well as monitoring some prominent websites like AvoidJW and JWfacts.

Ha! You couldn't be more wrong. Almost everything of any significance is stored here and what's more everyone who writes or owns any website or you tube channel etc has either woken up and begun their journey because of this site, or researched information found & collated on this site before creating their own content.

In other words this site is the grand daddy! It's played a part in the journey of almost all apostates (whether they know it or not) with few exceptions such as the like of Barbara Anderson & James Penton whom I could probably count on one hand!

What I don't understand is if a priest or Elder is told by the victim (or victims parents) they've been abused, there's absolutely nothing stopping that priest or Elder going to the police anyway!!

That's not a "confession" because a victim has no sin or crime to confess - it's just the report of a crime!!

Someone please tell me if I have this wrong?!

I can't see any faces in the background and as per the story, like Nathan Natas I would assume it's a (poorly drawn) sword (doesn't look that much like a willy) but I think it does look far more like a scripture scroll🤷‍♀️

Did Watchtower Really Teach That Armageddon Was Coming in 1954?

in the march 2025 jw broadcast david splane in his morning worship talk mentioned that "some thought" that armageddon would come 40 years after 1914. such statements are usually meant to shift the blame of their own false predictions on to their members for speculating.

however, i was unable to find anything in print showing that such a thing was indeed taught by the society.

was this really a thing?.

I've never heard of that date, Jerome. But maybe some of our more senior or long time members may have heard of it?The only thing related to Watchtower and 1954 that I could find was the Douglas Walsh trial in Scotland, where Fred Franz was found to be unable to translate a Bible verse into Hebrew.

However I don't trust David Splane and I wouldn't put it past him to either arrogantly get the date wrong, but refuse to correct it, or use a false date to throw people off.
