Holiday time were you sent to the library or not?

there are many generations of xjws here.

i'm curious as to what happened to you in school.. were you sent to the library during festivities, allowed to stay home, or allowed to participate?

enter the years if you can and the number of jw's with you.. mine: mid 1960's to mid 70's.

Library, Lunch Room, Hallway. Anywhere they could stash me. Sometimes they even made me right papers cuz they said I could not sit there with nothing to do. I went to school in the 90's. We even had to disappear for Pep Rallys.

How stupid.

Do you think it would be harder for her to leave him?

the other day, i noticed a jw wife that has 5 children, she seems very not happy with her jw husband, does it make it harder for her to leave him?.

I feel sorry for her too, but she chose to get married, and get pregnant five times with a man that she really doesn't like.

Just like I chose to get baptized when I was way to young, and now becz I do not agree with them, I am disfellowshipped.

We all have to live with our mistakes.

i ran into an ex jw i used to babysitt when i was a teenager.

that really makes you feel old, you know :-) anyway i invited her over for some coffee and we got talking gossip of course.

she was in for several years after me and was filling me in on all the juicy stuff i shouldnt care about :-) .

Thanks everyone..... I will just drop it. I may whisper it in his ear some day if I get a chance, just to see his face though. I am glad he got to be somewhat normal. I mean I did smile when I heard, even though it shocked the heck out me. I would just love for another family member to leave to be my support/stand by me. :-) I wish I could ask him why he chose to be such a sinner and not come visit me, but who knows maybe he thought I would tell on him for that. All F'd UP...

I ran into an EX JW I used to babysitt when I was a teenager. That really makes you feel old, you know :-) Anyway I invited her over for some coffee and we got talking gossip of course. She was in for several years after me and was filling me in on all the juicy stuff I shouldnt care about :-) . She is disfellowshipped too and her family is doing the disowning thing. I feel so bad for her. I directed her to this site for support.

While she was here though she let me know something that dropped my jaw. She told me that my little brother and her had been very naughty at a superbowl party. I mean really naughty. Definately disfellowship grounds. I am so torn. See, my family has disowned me also. My family consists of brother, twin sisters and parents. I was always very close with my little brother and he broke my heart the worst when he did not visit me anymore after my disfellowshipping.

Now that I have this information I am very hurt. I mean how could he justify doing things like that, but not coming to visit me. I feel like turning him in. Some for spite, and hopefully also to make him leave so maybe I can have him back. That is very selfish though. I don't know if I can put anyone thru that elder abuse

we haven't been to meetings in quite some time, but most of our family members live out of the area, so they don't know yet.

so with the spirit of joy that comes from newly exiting a doomsday cult, we have been celebrating all the holidays as well as my 5 year old's birthday (she turned 5 on december 2).

2pink I dont think you should lie or hide anymore. I know it is so hard. You probably will find out who really loves you, and who puts conditions on your relationship. But you will look more strong for your children if you stand up for what you believe in. They are the ones that really matter. Can you imagine leaving your children for a religion? Im sure not. Hopefully your JW family will feel the same as you. But in the end, you and your kids are what matter. People are going to do what they want to do, but don't let them control you.
