  Assembly Parts NEVER made sense to me....!!!!

  this is and always has been one of my biggest gripes: assembly parts/experiences.

  not 1....ever......e-v-e-r was even remotely relatable to me.

  now i have traveled all over the place (and to other countries) and i have sat amongst rich and poor jws, suburbanites and urbanites, siddity folks and straight 'hood'.....and not 1 assembly experience made me sit up in my seat and say "wow - that's just like me!".

  The experiences are scripted, that is why they sound so unreal and fake.

  Noticed how in some circuit they always use the same people….

  And yes, it always amazes me how some geeky looking guy always talk about this girl that out of no where is ready to have sex with him because he is so “different” and he manages to say no to her. But for some reason, many of those guys look like chronic masturbators. Just saying.

  (I was so bored at the last Special Assembly…we just had a district convention talking about Armageddon is near…two three months later, another assembly talking about “the time left is reduced”.)

  I think I remember what drama you are talking about. It the one which had the elderly Apostle John visiting a congregation in which he had a confrontation with a brother who was promoting “going mainstream” who said to John, “you are out of touch because you are old” something like that. I remember thinking, I don’t see how this whole drama really relates to any of the issues addressed in the Epistles or with the historical account found in the book of Acts.

  ok, i dont know who is a secretary on this site, so i will post it just here.... apostate: albert einstein, month: october 2009. studies: 2 (son and wife) son (7 years) is making great progress, recently he came to me with a question: "daddy are jw a cult?

  " yesterday he came to me with a question: "daddy, so there will be no armageddon?

  " i told him: "sonny, you can be 100% sure if there is loving god above us, he will never be throwing burning stones on people as it is pictured in mummies wt... (he was really relieved).

  R. Franz not humble? Nothing can be further from the truth. He needed to establish his credentials in order to capture the attention of a reluctant JW reading his book. You know how JW operate, the higher your position in the Org the more credibility you have. Notice how Don Cameron had to subtitle his Captives of a Concept book - Don Cameron “Former Member of a Body of Elders of Jehovah’s Witnesses”- This is sort of saying, I was an insider so I have the credentials to write about the JW.

  Reading the bible and loving it

  after looking at some read the bible in one year plans, i have been toying with the idea of giving it a go.

  i don't know if anybody has come across these plans, but each day of the week you put about 15 minutes aside and read a bit from the ot, a psalm, an epistle and a gospel.

  eventually after a year you've read the lot.. although as a jw i have read most of the bible, i only did it within the constrains of referencing from a wt publication.

  I can relate to all of the comments here. Being bilingual allows me to read the bible in both, English and Spanish. I listen to the NIV in English and read the KJ and NIV in Spanish.

  I have to admit that I’m really enjoying my reading of the bible outside of the WT box. WOW! It amazes me to realize how much has been taken away from us. Things like, developing a personal relationship with Jehovah and His Son, realizing that we don’t have all the answers as to what is correct and what is not, and truly appreciating what Jesus did and is still doing for us.

  I don’t know if this topic has been posted before. But after realizing that I sort of “resurrected” an old post from OUTOFTHEBOX, I thought of starting a new one with the topic above.

  How many “elders” (or MS on their way to being appointed) are here in this forum?

  It will be interesting to find out.

  P.S just in case you were wondering TJlibre stands for Testigo De Jehova Libre or a free Jehovah’s Witness. The reason why I chose that “name” is thatI’m still in the religion, but I’m slowly and steadily regaining my independence of thoughts and actions and have not surrendered completely to the WT Org.

  However, I’m fully aware that it’s only a matter of time before a CO or another elder realize my agenda and/or I face my own crisis of conscience (no pun intended) and leave either by fading, DA or being DF.

  that's right guys.

  as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.

  which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.

  In all honesty. I think that you should use this opportunity for good. If you have mentally renounced to the WT indoctrination, then you should now try to find the true meaning of Christianity. (My opinion)

  I speak from my own experience. I prayed hard to God the night I was appointed as an elder.

  Before I became an elder:

  -I had realized that we did not have the “truth”. That we were just another religion.

  -Began to read other bible translation and non-WT publications

  -Just finished reading R.F CoC

  Now that I’m an elder I:

  -Continue reading other bible translation and bible commentaries

  - Am reading R.F In Search of Christian Freedom

  - Began to openly encourage the young ones in my cong to pursue a career and put off “pioneering” and other service “privilege” until they are ready to make a good living.

  - When a new person show interest in getting baptized, I encourage them to first look at the history of the “Organization” before making a full commitment. I tell them, that this is not a perfect religion, therefore, that it’s better to be aware of the mistakes NOW before getting baptized than AFTER.

  -When an irregular bro/sis tells me that they were not able to “preach” that month I ask them, 1) have you been reading your bible? 2) are you praying to Jehovah? 3) Are you taking care of your family’s financial and emotional needs? If the answer is yes, I bluntly tell them “you nothing to worry about”. (You should see the looks in their eyes, 95% of the time they look relief)

  And many other things, I feel some of the appointments are coming from the HS while other don’t (remember the parable of the wheat and the weeds). It’s what we do with the opportunity that counts, I think it is not a coincidence that so many elders are getting appointed being fully aware of the mistakes and fallacies of the WT Org.

  But until they catch me, I’ll continue my campaign. My current circumstances allow me certain level of freedom, so I’ll use it for what I think is a good cause.

  So my advice to OUTOFTHEBOX is, if you are not planning to genuinely help those in the BOX…decline the appointment, accepting it will do more harm to you and others than good.

  Fade rapidly OR jeopardise the fade by helping family/friends learn the truth and remain part of our lives?

  can i say from the outset that i feel grief and frustration over family/friends that are not aware of the truth about the "truth".

  they are good people who genuinely believe - as we all did at one time- that they are in gods organization and that this is what he requires of them.. .

  how liberating for us to have come to know the real truth and how sad they remain guilt ridden and under mind control that fosters these conditional friendships that bother us so much.. .

  Hello LUKEWARM,

  I’m basically in the same situation that you are in. I was appointed as an elder not too long ago, ironically only months after I finished reading R.Franz’s CoC. I feel that I can deal with the citation for a bit longer. As an “elder” I now have access to “inside” info such as the letters from the GB and other stuff, I want to build credibility in my wife’s eyes so than when I let her know that I’m done with this “Org” she’ll at least feel that I have a good reason. In the mean time, I’m helping some irregulars to feel less guilty about not turning in a field service report, letting the young ones know that its OK to educate themselves and pursue a career, also advising the new “bible” students that before they make a decision to look into the “society’s” history so that they are aware that this is an imperfect organization. For what is worth, spreading the seed is better than just leaving, help those that can be help…others are better off left in the cult as Randy W wrote in one of his blogs.

  so my husband dragged me to the meeting this morning.

  i brought my new bible that i bought instead of the nwt and he didn't say anything about it.

  in the public talk, the speaker opened to matt.

  From time to time, among the plausibility found in the WT literature there are a few antiques and material worth reading. This was one of them. However, I’ve been reading the bible (not the NWT) and other non WT literature lately, so I had no desire to mark or study my WT.

  Hi doublelifeI only whish that my wife would tell me that she doesn’t want to be so dedicated to the “Organization”. I don’t want to loose her and our beautiful marriage…but I know that if I leave the WT or fade into the background that’ll bring problems to our marriage.
