The new song book is the worst. If you thought that the old one was bland and monotone, you don’t know bland and monotone my friends. The new songs don’t last more than 4 min, and the majority consists of 3 to 4 verses. The lyrics lack real feelings and emotions, very mechanic; they look more like paragraphs from a WT study article than a real song. Go to JW.org and download the vocal rendition…that is if you are willing to subject your self to that torture.

Something My GF Noticed.........
by ColdRedRain intoday, i was hanging out with my girlfriend and we were bored and cold, so we went over to my mom's kingdom hall just to show her what a cult looks like.
i was demonstrating to her how the witnesses use vague, emotion driven speech to try to conjure up the strong feelings in their members so they could control them easier, but i didn't pick this tiny tidbit up.
we kind of listened to the beat of the kingdom melody and we noticed something very odd.... the kingdom songs' cadences are the same rythmic cadences a hypnotist would use to hypnotize a person..

alcoholism a clear and present danger for JWs and XJWs?
by quietlyleaving ini was having an interesting discussion with an xjw recently and we both knew of elders who were alcoholic but who were allowed to keep their privileges because their condition was described as a disease.
the elder i knew was also spotted in a drunken state on a couple of occasions.
he kept his privileges.

I know so many elders, MS, etc....who have drinking problems or are alcoholics. The majority of them kept all priviliges and rarely received anything more than a slap on the wrist.
It seems almost acceptable to be a heavy drinker in some JW communities. At least in my area, heavy drinking amount male JW is common, popular and some times even encouraged…but in my 10+ years of association, alcohol abuse has never been a problem to be addressed in a “local needs” talk.

Think the GB Knows much about WT's Financial Holdings? Think Again
by flipper ini missed this point the first time i read ray franz's book " crisis of conscience " 3 years ago.
but it leaped off the page at me the second time around reading it this time.
on page 28 in discussing how secretive the gb meetings are and only rarely will an outsider be let in to gb meetings to give a report- then were sent away out of the room so the gb could continue meeting in secret.. franz in discussing financial issues states on pg.

On the last CO visit, he said that “mother” wants to stress the importance of the “Family Worship Night”, he dropped a couple of hints such as “we don’t know for how long we’ll continue having our KH’s”. I heard that there will be a new arrangement for the magazines quotas, in which instead of having a quota, the publisher will only take the magazines that it plans to place that week. I think that some of you have heard that they are taking contribution money out of debit and credit cards in some district conventions in the US.
I hate to speculate, but I think that they are getting ready to drop a bomb that’ll cripple the WT financially. Or they are really hurting due to the lack of contribution.
I don’t think that the GB is fully informed on the financial detail of the corporation, other than “we need more money” “we need to reduce costs/liabilities”. I’m confident that the GB has entertained the idea of changing the blood stance to a matter of “conscience”, but they’re being held back because of the financial ramification that a “new light” on this issue will have, you know lawsuits, R&F leaving in the thousands, etc. That’s when the lawyers come in, they are the ones running the show.

I need your opinion, helping a love one see the light
by tjlibre inill have a long weekend this week because of the thanksgiving holyday.
i made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to awake my wife.
i dont plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of we are living this organization, rather, im taking the approach of here is some information that we should consider and think about.

Thank you all for your comments. I have read some of the threads dealing with how to help a loved one see the “truth about the truth”.
I understand that a forceful/”in your face” type of approach is not productive.
I guess the question really is, where and how should you start showing a person that the WT is not that it says it is. What is the best way to start a small conversation on this subject (the WT as chosen by God in 1919), not so much getting into the doctrinal mess, but more on the surface. Give that person a taste to ask, seek answers, comeback to me for more, etc.

Hi all,
I’ll have a long weekend this week because of the Thanksgiving holyday. I made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to “awake” my wife. I don’t plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of “we are living this organization”, rather, I’m taking the approach of “here is some information that WE should consider and think about”. Because I understand that it could be overwhelming to a semi-hardcore JW. I would like for you to give me your opinion.
I’m debating on what should be the proper approach to weaken the blind trust in the Watchtower (GB) doctrines and direction. This is what I’m thinking of doing,
1) Present and discuss the WT “circular reasoning” technique. (I’m sure most of you are familiar with this by now).
2) Discuss the basis that the WT use to say that they were selected in 1919, then show that in 1919 they were still doing the same thing that other Christian churches were doing.
3) Then move on to present in summary the following:
a. Wrong dates, 1799,1874,1914,1925,1975
b. Change in medical policies, vaccines, organ transplants, blood fractions.
c. The changes in the “generation” teaching.
d. How they called themselves a “prophet”
Then ask, because of all these errors and misinterpretation, Do you think that they are really directed by the Holy Spirit?
4) Then discuss the WT dishonesty, hypocrisy, double standards and manipulation of information.
a. Child pedophilia handling
b. UN NGO membership
c. Investment in war
d. How they lied about the reason from switching from selling the literature to a contribution basis.
e. The expansions of their facilities while discouraging the R&F’s from improving their lives through education, better jobs, etc.
Then ask, why are they so dishonest with us? Don’t you think it’s hypocritical that they can be a member of the UN and we can’t join or go to a YMCA or openly contribute to the Red-Cross?
Then conclude by showing some clips from ex-moonies and ex-mormons and if she allows me, depending on her emotional state, show her some ex-jw clips, testimonies, etc.
I would like for you to tell me what you have done to help others see the “light”, what worked, what didn’t worked, what would you have done differently, etc. Any other ideas?

Yes, but when I became one. Now I’m not, but I’m disappointed and disgusted at the GB . The other day someone asked me what was my religion, I said “I like to think that I’m a Christian, I’m working on it”. I no longer say that I’m a JW.

One of the disadvantages of written communication is that sometimes we can’t really tell how the person is expressing his/her ideas. They say that 55% of our communication is body language. Because of this, I kinda felt that you perceived my response the wrong way, so I didn’t take offence on the way that you responded. There is a lot going on in our heads and hearts, I can’t relate to what you are experiencing right now, like loosing a father and dealing with your family’s attitude, but at least I understand. So it’s all good bro.
Lillith
Same response to you.

The tone and voice of the WTBTS publications/writings
by HappyGuy ini hope this doesn't sound too strange.

How about this quote from the WT Nov 15, Pg. 13 Prrg. 5.
“By word or action, may we never challengethe channel of communication
that Jehovah is using today.”
That sounded like a threat. How pitiful, their insistence on obedience and submission reflects that they are loosing grip. What’s gonna become of this religion in the next 5 years?
“The power is detested, and miserable the life, of him who wishes to be feared rather than to be loved”. - Cornelius Nepos
“Weak leaders keep others in their place. They remind them who is boss. Good leaders know that authority is more earned than granted.” Steve Goodier
