I can’t help but to have mix feelings about the situation. On one hand, I’m troubled by the violation of the Russian JW’s human rights; specifically, the ban on their right to read whatever they want. Also, I’m against all physical and mental abuse that children, innocent men and women are subjected by the hand of ANY human authority.

On the other hand, if the REAL quarrel that the Russian authorities have with the JW is the content of the Watchtower Corp literature…then, why does the Russian JW insist on using such literature? Isn’t the Bible the MAIN tool for learning, teaching and spreading the JW message? It is insane to place your life, your freedom and your family’s well being at risk, by distributing literature from a publishing company, which sole concern is its own self preservation at the expense of human liberties!!

In my opinion (because I’m still a bible believing person), there is only one test that the Governing Body needs to pass in order to demonstrate that they CARE about the well being of the Russian JW….TELL THEM TO STOP DISTRIBUTING WATCHTOWER PUBLICATIONS!!!! and reiterate that the Bible (even if is not the WT translation) is now their sole publication. But as we all here know, the board of director of a heartless corporation won’t put the people interest before theirs…

I hope someone from Bethel reads this and relay the message to the 9 men sitting in the ivory W. Tower.

Here are my 2 cents on parr 6.

WT comment: First, they cannot preach what they do not understand.

-Do the majority of JW know what GRACE is? Could they preach on this subject?

WT comment: Second, most of them lack the humility and courage needed to face the ridicule and opposition that may result from sharing the Kingdom message with their neighbors. (Matt. 24:9; 1 Pet. 2:23).

What about those that have the humility and courage to face discrimination and death for professing faith in Christ and sharing that faith with their hostile neighbors?

The link below contains information on the persecution than over 100 million Christians are facing, just for identifying themselves as Christians. In many cases, all that that had to do in order to avoid persecution is to renounce their Christian faith….

The despite of their claims, the WT missionaries have not played a significant role in the spread of Christianity in many countries. Often, the follow the footstep of non-JW missionaries.

WT comment: And third, false Christians do not have God's spirit.--John 14:16, 17.

-Nor does the WT Organization! The spirit that guides this organization is a Corporate spirit. That spirit is cold, unloving, prideful, abusive, and ungodly. Elders, CO and many taking the “lead”, [in their majority] are known for displaying such spirit. Any of them showing a Christ like attitude and spirit is an exception to the norm.

without divulging too much information about myself, i'm on the east coast, up north.

we've been hammered by snow storms, and from what i hear we've got another one on the way tommorrow night.

this month, i've missed 4 meetings total.

It’ll be funny if we know each other. I’m also in the North East.

But you ever feel like this? Did it ever get to this point in your life while still in? Feel like I'm breaking.

I just came out of a very gloomy period. But I’ve been doing a couple of things that are helping me to overcome that depressing, hopeless feeling (which came as a result of finding the truth about the “truth”). One was to accept that this religion is just that…another religion (or cult depending on what definition you apply to the JWs), I then began to re-evaluate my understanding about the nature of the Creator and His relationship with Christianity. One thing lead to another, but what has helped me greatly is the re-discovering of a simple non dogmatic Christianity. There are other things, but I just wanted to share these.

No offence taken. Believe me…I’m well aware of the challenge that this represents J . A work that might be read by thousands of Spanish speakers deserves a decent translation. You see… I speak Caribbean Spanish! Now you can imagine how challenging this is for me! LOL.

I’m working on Frank Kavelin’s life story translation into Spanish. Because that is a very popular story in freeminds, I’m paying a lot of attention to details in order to have a translation that naturally expresses the writer’s ideas. Here is a preview of what I’m doing. As with English, the Spanish language also has expressions that mean different things to other Spanish speakers. So, I’m trying to use a standard Spanish words and expressions in the translation.

Me llamo Frank Kavelin. Mi esposa Bárbara y yo fuimos recientemente expulsados por “apostasía”. Mucho antes de hacernos inactivos, mi nombre fue mencionado en un tema de conversación en el foro de JWN. Mis inicios Como Testigo de Jehová

Mis padres se hicieron testigos alrededor del año 1950. Mi padre, Al Kavelin, fue un reconocido director de orquesta en la década de 1930 y 40, pero para el 1950, estaba teniendo dificultades sustentando a su familia. Tengo tres hermanas, así que éramos seis hijos en total. Un día, mientras mi padre hacia diligencias en Hollywood, se encontró con Henry Russell, quien anteriormente había dirigido el departamento de música de la NBC (Canal de televisión Norte Americano), en la Costa Oeste de EEUU. Mi padre le preguntó a Henry el por que ya no trabajaba para la NBC y Henry le respondió que tenía un mejor empleo. Era difícil el imaginar cual podría ser mejor trabajo que el que Enrique tenia en la NBC, la curiosidad de mi padre lo llevo a hacer mas preguntas. Henry le respondió diciendo: "Estoy trabajando para Jehová." Aunque mi padre ya percibía hacia donde se dirigía la conversación, preguntó: "¿Quién es Jehová?" Henry sabía que mi padre era hijo de un rabino Judio, y lo regaño por hacer tal clase de pregunta. Para ese momento, ya mi padre quería ponerle fin a la conversación y le dijo a Henry: "Hablaremos de este tema después en otra ocasión." Henry respondió diciendo: "Bueno, ¿cuándo?" Sin más, mi padre lo invitó a cenar el próximo miércoles por la noche. Henry llegó alrededor de las 6:00pm, y después de un debate maratónico, partió de la casa aproximadamente a las 6:00 de la mañana del día siguiente. Las sesiones de debates nocturnas continuaron por casi más de dos años. Basándose en estas discusiones y en la investigación independiente, mi padre se convenció de que lo que Henry compartía con el era la verdad.

What it means if JW's are wrong??????

the jehovah's witness are notorious for ranting about their favourite religion to pick on and that is the catholic church.

my question is, if they are false.

prophets, etc... then what they said about the catholic church should be suspect also.

All organized religions are in it for the money to a certain degree. Same crap different smell. But even then, some are better than the WT in the sense that they don’t hide their financial affairs from their members; or at least they don’t claim to be an infallible organization.

Today I watched a PBS documentary on Martin Luther and the reformation movement. It was interesting to see that one of the things that disturbed him was that the catholic was more like a corporation than a church “Martin Luther was especially troubled because some church officials gave people the impression that they could buy their way into heaven.”(http://weuropeanhistory.suite101.com/article.cfm/martin_luther_and_the_reformation).

As I was watching the video, I couldn’t help but to noticed a lot of similarities between the Catholic Church and the Watchtower Society. For example, Martin Luther made a pilgrimage trip to the Church in Rome, hoping that he would achieve a deeper sense of spirituality and closeness to God. He was soon disappointed, when he realized that the church was nothing more than a corporation, and that the officials where not men of God but a bunch of cold businessmen. I thought of the many bethalites that faced the same reality when they worked at the head quarters.

A little jab to those who have not mastered English

i respect those who come here from abroad (legally) but i can't help being amused at some of the things that are uttered from their mouths.

i live in a area where a good portion of my neighbors are of mexican american descent.

yesterday a neighbor 2 doors down was yelling at her son to quit teasing their german shepherd.

How about this, some Latin men call their wives or their mothers “boss”. In Spanish, female boss is JEFA…so imagine this situation…here is Martin and Julio, both Latinos born in the USA and John a blue blooded white American…

Martin : So Julio, are you coming to see the ball game this Saturday?

Julio : I’m not sure bro; I have tons of things to do this weekend.

John : C’com Julio all the guys are going to be there.

Martin : and after the game we are going for some frias bestida de novia (cold beer).

Julio : Coño Martin, is that my wife keeps nagging me about fixing that leak in the kitchen…y tu sabes (you know) I want no problems with la JEFA.

John …Julio that’s not nice, you shouldn’t refer to your wife in such terms.

Julio: What do you mean John?

John : you just called your wife a fat ugly cow.

Julio: I don’t understand John…what do you mean…when? how?

John: You just called her a Heffa….

Martin: Oh…no John…you got it wrong my friend…Julio said JEFA, JEFA in Spanish means female boss.

WTS was the first on the scene after the Haiti earthquake

the following story is apparently circulating in several south-american bethel-branches: after the earthquake in haiti, the wts was the first provide help in the form of 18 doctors who was transported in by air.

this clearly show how well the organization work bla bla bla.. im curious if anyone else here has heard this story, or have information about how effective the wts helping work really was..
