one congregation phenomenon i have observed in a variety of halls - older, not so model material brothers have a real chance with younger, attractive sisters - and often at the prodding of the young sisters parents and congregation members.. and if you have a little more scratch than the average jw brother (which isn't hard to do with a bunch of window washers), you really have an advantage.. a 40 year old man walking through the mall would have zero chances with an attractive 18+ year old girl.

but take that same man, who has been faithfully attending meetings and doing all the right things and put him in the kingdom hall and suddenly anything is possible.. sad, but true.. of course, who wants all the drama that comes with a girl that young - but it is something i have observed.. when i was in my early 20's and came back into "the truth", and i had a few dollars - and i had so many sisters tripping all over themselves for me... and the ages range from late teens to late 30's.

it was crazy.

I'm not sure Think About It. I was married for 9 years. After I left I had an elder come to me and tell me that my ex had been "inappropriate" with his 15 year old daughter while I was marred and that due to my ex's connections he was being "counseled" only and not having a JC. The same elder told me that he had already been counseled regarding 2 more of my previous babysitters and that the fathers of these girls had all been stumbled by the the elders lack of action. Those families DID leave our congregation but I had no idea of the reason WHY at the time. The elders never informed me of ANY of it. This all happened while I was till married to him and an active witness.

His now wife was "worldly" at the time that he hooked up with her so I don't know that the elders knew of her age. I had already moved out but was still legally married to him and they didn't inform me that I was scripturally free or anything. They've ignored me since I left unless it was to dig up dirt on me. I am very grateful to the elder that contacted me to inform me of all this, and hope that one day he wakes up and gets his family out of this destructive "religion".

I didn't spend too much time on it. I just feel so bad. I don't want her to have to go through all the shit I had to endure. I was so miserable for so long.

I have a feeling the marriage will end when she grows up a bit. He doesn't like strong independant women. He wants the young easy to control type. lol.

Does the GB keep a list of all members of 144 000, alive and dead?

like keeping a list and then scratching off those who pass away.. for example:.

What is the purpose of such a list? I am seriously asking. Wouldn't just serve as a stumbling block? It must be MILES long by now.

Married to the Mob-- She does seem to have some serious "daddy issues". I've tried talking to her about both the religion and my ex husbands tendency towards mental & emotional abuse and his manipulative ways. You know how it goes though, when teenagers are in love there is no talking them out of it!

Yes he is very well connected. He even succeeded in pestering the elders to have me disassociated without any JC or anything. They annouced my DA and the new wife's baptism on the same night back to back. Out with the old and in with the new!

It really bugs me how easy it all is for him and how the congregation just fawns over him. Blech!

Well of COURSE! Nice catch Think About It!

He did get her pregnant the month she turned 18 (which to me implies they were having sex before her birthday). After he was disfellowshipped and reinstated, she got baptized, and 6 weeks later they are married with their 1 year old in the wedding with my two girls.

Such a sweet JW story huh?

My 36 year old ex husband just married a 19 year old girl last week. He of course had the full support of the congregation. Ewwwwwww

Not I! My last memorial was in 2004. I have to attend 2 meetings since then under extreme duress. Both times my little girl had a part on the TMS. It was awful, torturous, agonizing and I only went for her part and then at halftime.

i've often said that the term/description "atheist" tell us so little.

the author below provides some descriptions that are more meaningful.. .

upon reviewing the list, i'm of the opinion that "religious atheists" are very common, but they are also likely to be "closet atheists".. .

Same here.

I usually just stick with agnostic. I like the general definition "doesn’t believe in gods, but doesn’t claim to know there are no gods." As it gets more defined it's hard for me to find my place.

just wondering what kh you guys attended and or congregation you are from?.

me, i'm from hayes cong london and golden ash northants... spent time in others too but mostly those... oh, also a short spat in kempston cong bedford... all in england... :).
