you should not have to choose between your religion and family ! (awake mag quote)
by looloo inlast summer there was a big upset caused by an article (july ,ithink) in the awake about a hindu lady that upset her family by leaving her religion and joining jehovahs witnesses and the ironic thing was it had the above quote in it , that someone should not have to choose between family and religion !
i printed the article off and underlined that section , and recently sent it to my inlaws along with a letter , because they are upset about not seeing their grandchild because they banned their son from the house (he sdisfellowshipped) i am trying to sort the situation out , and i thought they might notice the hypocrisy in the article , however that idea did not work as apparently" there are lies on the internet !
" and father in law was not very happy to receive it , but it is from an awake magazine ,watchtower literature !

Does anyone have a link to that article? Or at least the issue it was in? I'd like to see it as well.

i decorated my office with hearts for valentine's day this year.
my family has known for over ten years that i do not want to practice the jw faith, although i am not df'd or da'd.

I'm so happy that you are reaching this point as well! It'll be fun to go through these forbidden holidays together. This is my first year celebrating openly too. I sent you an email today too. What are you busy or something? lol.

Camels werent domesticated during Abraham's time?
by cyberjesus inone of the many factors that made me loose faith in the bible was the fact that camels were not domesticated during abrahams era.
i read this on the book "the bible unearthead".
do you know of any other evidence that shows camels were domesticated after 1000 bce.

Oh the great goodness of Jehovah! How wonderful that he provided Abraham with these beasts! Obviously Jehovah "gentled" them for his people. That's the way any "good" JW would answer that allegation.

Your most memorable Kingdom Hall meeting disruptions!
by easyreader1970 ini remember about twenty years ago some teenagers were caught fornicating in one of the additional schools.
the schools were downstairs, essentially separated from the rest of the kh.
they weren't just happened upon, though.

Apparently I've out-ed an old friend THE SH**T HIT THE FAN!!
by Terry inabout three or four years ago my former "best friend" who is an active jw started coming by my work to eat lunch with me and chat.. in the course of our conversations we had religious discussions.. i posted on the former jwd about these discussions.
i never mentioned his last name, but, i did use his first name.. i honestly never expected anybody to read those posts because of the curse on apostate websites.
but, that was a bit naive, i suppose.. here is what has happened.. .

Do you have his email address? Or even snail mail? It would be appropriate IMO to send a "sympathy" card after his father passed. You can write something in there that you felt a change in the relationship and try to address it. Maybe ask him to call or meet up. I'm not sure I'd mention the rumor you heard. Would that make him more upset?

Woot! Jersey City Assembly Hall! I loved my assemblies there. Although I was not there for the experience you mentioned.
Good job, Brother, for not referring to it as "Stanley Theater" which was all my family ever called it. lol.

When I was married my ambitious MS husband would get sent out for public talks. We had two young children and I of course was dealing with them alone. During one "away" talk I had both girls alseep on me (they were like 1 & 2) when all of a sudden my cell phone went off. I looked to my BIL in law who came with us and said HOLY SHIT really loud. Meanwhile my cell is just ringing and ringing because I ddin't want to wake up the kids and my freaking BIL could not find my phone to shut it off. So I managed to disrupt the whole meeting AND curse all in one fell swoop. Funny now but EMBARASSING at the time.

Planted a seed today... Update on de-program of my 16 year old son
by Aussie Oz inwell, some of you know that i have a 16 year old son who lives with his jw mother.
she has already mastered the art of guilt control on him.
i am most anxious that he not get baptized at all or at least unless he has really understood the whole truth, not just the watchtower truth.

Awesome news Oz! Sounds like you are doing a fab job! I really appreciate all who share these types of experiences with the kids because I too struggle on a daily basis. So thanks for taking the time to type this out.
