It seems that staying quiet about the religion is what you need to do for now... That you care about your mom is not a bad thing. Feel her out a little her thoughts about shunning. She brought up a good son... (speaking as a mother here)

i hate people's constant open hand for money, it's the weak individuals asking others to pull their weight.
my family worked extra hours instead of begging the strong members for district assembly money, cat food for seven cats or tiny little rag-a-muffins weiner dogs.. .

by SweetBabyCheezits ini'd bet my left.... pinky toe that the wt's monster 4/9 confidentiality letter was put out as a direct result of the jane doe/candace vs wt case as they were preparing to go to trial.
there had already been a year of legal proceedings - surely the wt knew the shit was about to hit the fan.. thanks goes to atlantis for posting the boe letters originally as pdfs.
the person that a restraining order is a personal legal matter that does not involve the congregation.. thereafter, the elders should call the legal department immediately for direction..

Anyone else like to sew??? What kind of Machine do you use???
by ohiocowboy ini'm ready to get my sewing machines out of hiding, and will be sewing once again this winter.
i'd like to start quilting again, as it is fun to do, eases stress, and is healthier than just sitting in front of the tv.
i have even designed a few items of clothing in the past that i have sold, although i am by no means another madeleine vionet or issey miyake-lol.. i've always liked sewing machines even as a child (much to the dismay of my parents-lol), and there are a couple favorites that i have had for many years.

I have a good friend who makes tie quilts (mostly wall hangings) and she says its tricky because of the fabric being cut on the bias she puts a cotton backing on it so it wont stretch. It also makes the project heavy. She also goes to thrift stores and garage sales to get her ties. Once in a while a bag of ties just turns up on her front porch. Sometimes she will do a pillow or wall hanging as a memory project after someone's grandpa passes away.
Estate sales often have ties but may be more pricy because of sentimental value.

Anyone know of any effective but simple diets/diet tips? Weight gain after giving up smoking!

i gave up smoking a few months back and have put on around 20lbs already.
i've gone up another dress size and i wasn't slim to begin with!

If you have a hard time cutting out the carbs... just cut the sugar and flour. It will still let you have all the fruit and vegitables you want. Gluten can be a problem for a lot of people. Less processed food, and no fast food is my solution when I want to lose some of the blubber. Like another poster said allow yourself one day a week to go a little wild. It helps to not feel deprived.
