Bumping this because everyone needs to take a half hour of their life and just laugh out loud. Great stories!

Crossword Puzzles in the Awake?
by Wild_Thing indidn't they use to print crossword puzzles in the awake?
i vaguely remember my mother doing them, and me trying to do them when i was a small child.
is this an accurate memory or could i be thinking of a non-jw publication.

I remember Watching the World, it was in the back of the Awake. It was the first thing I read, I liked the Awake; the WT not so much. It was in the 60's for sure, I left in the early 70s.

Irradiate or not???
by Latte injust wonder what you all thought of the following topic....thanks!
http://www.foodstandards.gov.uk/multimedia/webpage/irradiatedqa/
irradiation can be used to kill bacteria that cause food poisoning, such as salmonella, campylobacter and e. coli.

I have a jw relative who wont use a microwave. She said that 'someone' did an experiment where they watered plants with microwaved water and tap water. I asked her did they boil (on the stove) the tap water for longer or the same time. No, they didn't boil the tap water...
Apples and oranges. They would have gotten the same results if both of them were boiled. If they had both boiled the water PLUS a tap water control that wasn't boiled they would have valid results.
Logic isn't their strong point.

"Dubs For Dummies"
by Farkel indear brothers and sisters in the worldwide brotherhood of jehovahs witnessestm,.
there has been much public interest in our beliefs lately, so we have prepared a very brief summary of our core beliefs in a new pamphlet which you may offer to interested persons.
hopefully, this pamphlet will generate enough interest with honest-hearted people and enable you to start many new bible studies.

Amazing's Triumph - Mixed Feelings
by Perry inamazing wrote:.
"i was able to get my wife and children out, and this led to my son-in-law and a close friend leaving at the same time.
so, i am among the more fortunate in that my immediate family, and non-jw friends and relatives were all there with me as i exited.

Time to bump this to the top... Getting family out of the borg is a hard (if not impossible) but when they still speak to you a comment might get them thinking. Has anyone had success lately?

The Privilege of Handling the Microphones
by minimus inone of the most unbelievable privileges that a brother could have was being a microphone handler.
elders would discuss brothers for hours and see whether or not we would allow them to mow the lawn or handle a mike.
i always felt that these brothers were doing us a favor but if they didn't get a minimum of 10 hours in per month, they were dog crap and couldn't have any privileges.

This is interesting to me because it is so long ago that when I was in (teenager) the only mic was on the podium.
Any new experiences about all things technology?

Help a lurking dub with doubts
by undercover ini've been lurking about, checking out some of the evidence against the wtbs.
i am currently inactive but still an approved/baptized member.
i have seen all the 1914/607bce evidence; the blood transfusion quandry evidence; the current child abuse problem evidence and several other things that are damning to the wt doctrines.

Bumping this for anyone new and thinking they are alone in discovering something rotten in the Kingdom Hall. It's not you, it really stinks.
The responses are great and some of the older members are no longer with us (I really miss Farkel)

Thanks Simon,
I may try the custom settings in Chrome or dig out my laptop and see how it goes. I like to dig in the archives and sometimes it helps to identify old posts (I love the fact that we have nearly 20 years to dig through.)
