When should you Disassociate yourself?
by happytobefree ini have been having discussion with my sister (relative), who is an active witness, about writing a letter of disassociation.
the reason being is that i have not attended the meetings in over a year and it's been 4 years since i have went out in the jw ministry.. i going to try to sum this topic up.
my sister think that i should not da myself because i have not done any immoral act in her thinking.

Can someone help me with a question?
by Angelgirlnr1 ini am not a jehovahs witness, but i have family members who are.
and one of them is my cousin.
we talk now and again, and i love him very much, both him and his wife, and also my aunt and uncle, his parents.

They did not say it precisely in their literature but encouraged it in talking about devoted people who had done so and praised them. At the conventions it was encouraged and there were examples given of someone who decided to pioneer or be missionaries and to go where the need was "great".

MORALITY: what is it really?
by Terry inwhat is morality?
how is it different from ethics?
do we just make it all up to suit our fancy?
-
bsmart
So Terry, its been 15 years since this conversation.
Is your reality still based on this way of thinking? Pragmatism and selfishness is something I fight in some ways and your viewpoint makes me think perhaps it is part of morality and I need to reconsider what my thoughts are really telling me.
Makes me remember the book study and the Daniel book. It never made sense to me and is part of why I never stuck around when I grew up. Nowadays making sense of things is still important.

Beth Sarim Revisited 4 Newbies
by Farkel inat 4440 braeburn road, san diego, ca., in the rich and prestigious neighborhood of the kensington heights neighborhood sits one of the biggest embarrassments in the long and continuing list of embarrassments the watchtower society has created for itself.. most dubs know nothing about it, and if it wasnt for a few brief comments about it in the proclaimers book in 1993, even fewer dubs would know anything at all about it.. it is the home once known as beth-sarim (pronounced beth-sareeeem), the house of the princes.. it is a house with a history the society has shown by its historical lack of candor, hopes everyone would forget.
in fact, the society has done just about everything it could do to ensure that its history will be forgotten.
in the first book devoted to discussing the history of jehovahs witnesses, this house and its history is not even mentioned.

letter to the Society re: blood
by star69 inthe following letter which was sent to the canadian branch is posted in the interest of creating awareness of basic issues that all thinking witnesses should be concerned about.
the research found at http://www.jwbloodreview.org appears to be very sound and provides strong scriptural and logical argumentation that policies of jehovah's witnesses regarding blood transfusions are in "possibly" error.. it is reasonable and entirely proper for any who are presently concerned jehovah's witnesses to submit and request the society's perspective on this treatise found at http://www.jwbloodreview.org.. as yet i have not recieved a response from the society, but perhaps more persons writing in regarding this matter will at least continue to encourage the society to review what is an inconsistent, confusing and dangerous policy.. .

Attendance Figures
by snare&racket ini was a jw in the 80’s-2000’s and probably saw the peak of uk attendance.. anecdotally, many here appear to have a view that attendance has reduced significantly.
our kh would have around 90-110 for a meeting, at worst maybe 75 and the highest was 144 (for memorial lol).. small circuit assembly had about 1000 people and district had about 8-12000. .
i know kh’s and circuits/districts have variance, however in the uk i attended many of these various gatherings and the numbers above tended to be reasonably average.

If the leaders were to want the same numbers at an assembly (and for convenience here) all they would have to do is have a couple less state wide and lo the number is increasing-apparently. Sort of like the closed congregations increasing the count of the places that remain.
Sounds like what is happening, to me.. everyone busy living their own life and not noticing the big picture.
