TheOldHippie, I think that comment was a bit harsh, The New England Journal 9 October 1997, said If people stopped smoking, there would be a savings in health care costs, but only in the short term.Eventually, smoking cessation would lead to increased health care costs. In most countries where taxation of cigerettes is high, there is a benefit to that countries revenue. I agree smoking is bad, and dont smoke myself, but to make a statement that they dont deserve healthcare, impacts on say other issues, if a driver speeding in his vehicle, has an accident then should he/she be left to die because it was self inflicted, or maybe a heroine addict should be left to his own devices because it was self inflicted, maybe children who injure themselves knowing that what they did was wrong should not receive treatment, or perhaps Aids sufferers should not get treatment either. People should have access to any medical treatment regardless of their situation.

Oh dear, I had a go at my Mum last night . . .
by nicolaou inme and the mrs went round to my parents for a meal last night.
it's always a mixed bag with them because as hospitable as they are (greeks), there is no love between them - seriously.
it was a forced marriage and my mum has never loved dad.. anyway, mum is a loyal jw to the core, dad was never interested.

Anybody been dead before?
by Snotrag inby dead i mean not breathing and no heartbeat.
it took me a year to remember that i felt ,saw, experienced nothing.
the whole thing bummed me out even though i had bought in to what the teaching is before it happened.

For me I walked along a road or tunnel, the surrounding terrain was red and black, barren like the moon, if you like, each side of the road or path there were grotesque human figures, people in pain maybe, wandering around, some tried to touch me but they couldnt get on to the path, inthe distance there did seem to be a light emulating from the horizon, I didnt see angels or figures of christ like figures to welcome me, but the urge to carry on walking became less and I turned around to come back I think the way I entered, during this time I didnt feel frightened, but I did feel that I was being followed but everytime I looked around there was nothing there, just all these tragic people wandering around, some of these people were wearing old fashioned clothes, like from the victorian times and others wore rags. I felt I came near to something but I didnt quite arrive and I feel that way now. Although some of you will say it could be dreams etc, I dont know. Some people will try and say I wasnt dead, and the brain was acting in someway before death again I dont know, the problem with this subject is that it is the whole core of what we are about, its the billion dollar question, we dont know the answer, and maybe I saw something and felt something that was for me to experience, it has helped a great deal in my work, afterwards I researched this subject and found an interesting article by an American medium Edgar Cayce, who died in the 1940s I think, he described exactly what I saw, in meditations that he used to practise.

Last year I had a heart attack and was dead for 33 minutes, no heart beat, no breathing, etc etc, I remember seeing things, also like you I suffered from depression after, after the attack I was in a coma for 3 days, and was declared probably brain dead, because of the time I was dead, but luckily I recovered, and live to tell the tale, I remember vividly what I saw, but no doubt people will say I dreamt it, or it was something to do with the brain, but the experience has confirmed to me there is another existence, but maybe not what we are taught in Bible tales

To the "Believers" - A Sincere Question...
by AGuest into: "non-believers" (i am speaking to the "adult" among you as there are some who simply won't be able to resist... and you know who you are), i would like to ask that you please refrain from commenting, if you would be so kind.
if possible, it would be greatly appreciated if you would hold your comments for another thread, please.
thank you... and may you have peace!.

Surely, to have faith in God, is to live a life, in love to all those around us, it doesnt matter whether you read the Bible or not, there are many humans who do not read the Bible, does this mean they do not live in faith, because they havent heard the word of God, this is how white europeans used the word of God to convert the savage non believers and enslaved them. By living a life of love, I believe thats how to love God, not by going to a church or meeting hall or even by studying books. I dont think many of us are born to hate, but its easier to hate someone then love them. Its easy to say love and peace, but its difficult to really mean it.Maybe God feels to communicate with you, using quotes etc or an old fashioned way of speech, is the way to get through to you, so you can pose questions to test or ask others on behalf of God, but if God knows what is in all our hearts, then why would he need to test us, or remind us to love???

but here the fun part i get a call from my mother ask why we had "excluded" our brother our response he doesn't celebrate birthdays we were respecting his beliefs and my mother goes into a rant about us not caring for him this is a man who doesn't return our phone calls takes every opportunity to lecture us and show total disregard for our beliefs or feelings.

Those who can't be resurrected...
by Tuesday inhey folks a little help.
i seem to remember when i was younger reading an article talking about people who probably wouldn't be resurrected, those who turned their back on jehovah being the primary example.
i can't find the article to cite though, does anyone here know which article mentioned this?.

Last year I had a heart attack and was declared dead for 33 mins, after which I was in a coma for 3 days, on life support and the doctors declared that I probably would be brain dead, before they turned the machines off, I started twitching etc and as I said I came around after the third day, so if I was a JW should I still be here?????????????????

My mother is as bad, I used to get irate about it, but the problem is she keeps interfering between my brother and me, we are both non believers, but she spreads tittle tattle, I told her the other day to try and study harder because I dont think she understands the term love, i also said that according to the JWs you should be happy and positive, so I told her she needs to ask for a refund because it aint working
