  when the pit or well is opened it says , and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft .

  now for something to darken the sun from the viewpoint of earths observers it must be some incredible event.

  Drugs and Alcohol Ruin Your Life

  this point was raised in another thread vaguely, and wanted to try and expand on it.. the wt has said (and rightly so in my opinion) "that excessive use of drugs and alcohol can ruin your life".

  in my eyes this is a fact.. this is where it starts to get a little suspicious, as they also say (or subtly hint at) "that if you leave the wt you will becoming addicted to drugs and alcohol and will ruin your life".. its almost like a self fulfilling prophecy.

  as there are a lot who leave the borg and they do start drinking heavy or smoking, or taking drugs...or whatever.. the wt capitalizes on the fact that people want more freedom, and they subtly ingrain the thought that.

  What Shirley said. I went into rehab almost twenty years after I left the Borg, but looking back the downward spiral began shortly after I became a JW. It was then that I started drinking every night, and at every social function. I drank more (a LOT more) as a JW than I did in college.

  Confusion over the parable of the prodigal son

  though parable of prodigal son is superlative in quality as it graphically picturizes the scientific law of cause and consequence, its conclusion defames god.

  when the prodigal son returned repentant, his father showed his delight saying: let us celebrate this by killing a fattened calf.

  (luke 15:23) such a concept (let us rejoice by giving maximum pain to another innocent living being) seems to be interpolation for the following reason:.

  Mandatory voting in USA

  i am sure that president obama's saying today that mandatory voting in the usa would be a good thing is going to get the witnesses all excited as they look forward to being persecuted for not voting.

  just another sign showing how deep we are into the times of the end and how close they are to burying billions of people who don't read the watchtower.. sour grapes .

  I'm sure that the witnesses will get all worked up over it. I also think its a bad idea and probably unconstitutional. If people don't have enough motivation to vote they likely don't have the motivation to find out anything useful about either the issues or candidates. And If some one has some reason not to vote (I disagree with the WTBS position on this, but they are free to think what they want) the government ought not to force them into participating in the process.

  A good treatise on the scientific method and they'll be well equipped to figure out what they need and how to build it when the time comes. A few basics on science and math will help the process.

  Try to leave all of everything and it will end up unused and covered in dust because it will be overwhelming.

  here in the united states, on wednesday morning, march 11th at 12:35 a.m., est, barring any breaking news the day before, the program, nightline, will air as their lead story a 9-minute segment about the watchtower (jehovah's witnesses).

  the program is 30 minutes long and this segment is only one part of the show.

  Assembly in Seattle this weekend?

  does anyone know about an assembly or convention or whatever they call it now in the seattle-tacoma area in the last couple of weeks?

  i have a ditzy cousin who posts on fb that the assembly was "promoting peace and the sun.

  i'm sure they were really promoting money and the gb but my cousin is so newly brainwashed she has her own twist on everything.

  As far as I know all the assemblies are held in a Hall built for that purpose, located in Puyallup. If it was a circuit assembly it would have been there, I think they have one almost every weekend. I live north of Seattle I have not heard of anything special going on, but I don't have any contact with the Borg anymore.
