I addressed it. You can believe anythng you want, or nothing.
Or in your case you can choose not to get your panties in a knot over something you have no invovlement with.
i keep crossing paths with people who are in recovery, that is, recovering from drug and alcohol addiction.
these folks regularly attend alcoholics anonymous and narcotics anonymous meetings and are all somewhere in the process of working the 12 steps of recovery.
the organization denies affiliation with any legal entity; a blatant deception, a lie they tell new ones and each other at each and every meeting.

jw states: since the apostles made mistakes, it is okay for us to make mistakes as well".
is it the logical fallacy of "two wrongs make a right"?
the apostles were directed by god, the governing body is not.
The only time they drag out this kind of crap is when they've been caught doing or saying something that is clearly wrong.
Anybody that dares to disagree with them on the grounds that they've been known to make mistakes, will be out on their ear.

Full disclosure: I've been in AA since 2005. It quite literally saved my life, my marriage, and my relationship with my parents, brother and sister.
1) Most of us who came to AA on our own don't have a lot of use for those that are only there because the court ordered them there. They don't want to get sober, they want to get out of trouble. AA does not have any control over what judges do with defendents, nor do we solicate judicial intervention.
2) There are atheist AA groups.
3) Why do you care? Nobody makes you go to AA, nobody makes you talk to people who go to AA.
Would you feel better if we all quit going to meetings and you met us on the wrong side of the road instead?

i've just noticed that the logo for jw.org is a registered trademark.. this is how the logo appears on the back cover of the new magazines.... .
maybe i'm overthinking this, but i'm struggling to understand why a website for a religious organization that purports to be involved in not-for-profit educational work needs to register a trademark for its website.
a trademark is something commercial companies use to protect their goods or services.
I don't blame them at all for copyrighting it. As noted above it protects them from having people like us putting their logo on all our stuff.
two djs, posing as the queen and prince, prank a nurse into divulging info on kate.
nurse is later found dead, apparently suicide.. -----------.
'jacintha saldanha, the receptionist who was duped by two australian djs who were pretending to be queen elizabeth and prince charles in order to get information on the duchess of cambridge's pregnancy, has been found dead.. the woman's body was found at an address close to king edward vii hospital in london, where the duchess was being treated, according to the u.k.'s daily mail.
I don't know either the legal issues or hospital procedure in the UK. When my Dad was in the hospital my mother and I had passwords that would confirm our identity to the nursing staff if we called in. A person without the codeword couldn't get any information. I don't know if the DJ's can be charged with a crime or not, certainly in the US they could be sued civilly for invasion of privacy.
rhetorical question, i guess.. this is making the rounds:.
when you carry a bible, the devil gets a headache.
when you open it, he collapses.
Rebel, was there something accompanying that saying it was in the Bible? What you quote strikes me as just as saying without attribution, which people do all the time about all kinds of things.
Doesn't reduce the BS factor, but that's how I see it.
Hortensia, I'm working with a professional editor. She's made encouraging noises, but she's expensive and the actual rewrite is my job. Don't worry, I'll get back to it, I just need to let the ideas cook for awhile.
I have to figure out how to juggle several projects, all of which involve working on the computer. One is a paying gig, which makes it a priority even though its the least fun. I can't seem to get going on the next project, rewriting a novel with the view to getting it published. (It's loosely based on my experience as a JW and involves a serial killer). Project 3 is a science fiction novel I'm sharing with another community on the net. Its a just for fun deal after 10 days or so of work I'm a chapter and a half into it. But it's hard to get motivated to spend more time on the computer.
I seem to be good at procrastination.

Nice chunk of change. When did they buy it and for how much? Did they have a mortgage or own it free and clear? If I had the numbers I could do a rough calculation of IRR. Might be an interesting exercise to see how an organization that discourages playing the stock market handles its own money.
