That is such a sad reality.
It really puts things into perspective.
Thanks Mouthy, these reminders really help me appreciate everything more.

recently it's come to my attention that the other teens in my congragation are being pressured by their parents to pioneer.
the main problem is that, like me, they're all "apostates".
because of this amusing turn of events, i'm thinking about starting my own apostate pioneering group with them.
The idea of spreading the truth about the truth lie is good. Definitely keep that up.
However, if you are out of HS the best thing is to tell your parents you NEED to go to a community college to get a "trade" (jw buzzword.)
But you actually will be working to get a degree in something you like. That way--explain to them-- you will be able to "carry your own load' (another jw buzz phrase.) Reach a compromise with your parents: tell them you will put in so many hours of "field service"-- actually time as an apostate pioneer. And in exchange they will help you apply and/or qualify for financial aid to attend a local college this summer.
Everyone needs a car to pioneer so you can tell them that to better your chances to get employment to buy the car, you NEED a degree.
Then when you have completed your education get a good paying job, then a car, then get DA, then get out! In that order.
GOOD LUCK!

7 am - i wake up and walk up to my wife, "good morning, my precious!".
7:30 am *she hits the flasher button indicating she needs me* "yes, my queen??
" wife "oh stop.
That is really smooth!
I always think it's the quick thinkers who can come up with witty remarks like that.
By any chance, were you like this when you were single?
Some pick up lines I've heard at my job lately are soooo silly but really cute;
Guy: "Do you like water?"
Girl: "Yes"
GUY: "Then you already like 98% of my body"
See, very silly

hey everyone,.
so i've been thinking about marriage a lot lately, with same-sex marriages being approved in some states, banned in others, and flip-flopped in still others (see: california).. i recently read an article in my local newspaper about how marriage is a personal and religious union that has no business being in any of our laws, and that the laws should instead be for a legal domestic relationship, to establish and recognize legal families, and that marriage should be altogether separate from that.
i really agreed with all that was said in the article.. i want to get married.
Marriage when it is done for the right reasons can be very rewarding!
One thing is A MUST to maintain a long, happy marriage: Absolutely NOTHING can be more important to you than your Marriage: NOT a religion, or an ex-spouse, or a co-worker: Nothing.
Here's a good comparison: A legal marriage is a lot like a buying a house: If you take care of it, work to maintain it in good condition, it will be there for you in your old age.

if not, what age will you be when you are old?
as you age, do the answers change?.
THis author was in her 50's when she wrote this book. For most people I think it's just a matter of taking preventative measures to stay young and healthy. For example, some people's unhealthy habits can lead to pre-mature aging: pronounced laugh lines and decreased lung capacity are mostly found in smokers. Eating a diet rich in antioxidants and lots of fiber prevents a lot of health issues in the long run.

just wanted to post here to say i am now 1 year sober.
funny thing is i don't miss drink at all, it took a 3 or 4 months of hard work about 18 months ago and have not looked back since.. this is my first thread about the aa, posted january 2008.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/150354/1/went-to-aa-meeting-last-night.

Hi,
I knew a man who was a week-end alcoholic, and by the time he was in his mid sixties, he had prostate cancer and a liver too weak and damaged to handle the chemo he needed.
You are preventing a lot of future health problems and your family should be very happy and proud. GOOD JOB!
