I have off today. Actually my Spring classes don't start until Jan. 12 so I guess you could say I can take a breather.
On the other hand, I will be starting my end of the year clothes-sorting: I sort out all the clothes that my (fast growing) girls don't fit into anymore and donate them. It is a big job.

i am starting a collection of jw doctrines and practices that have no basis in the scriptures and (preferably) that the scriptures or secular history directly contradicts.
this isn''t a thread for arguing with scholar is he drops by.
i want as comprehensive a set as possible as part of a project i am working on, so even if you aren't sure of one, please toss it in the mix.
Here's a few JW teachings that are not Bible based:
*Children should be encouraged to get baptized.
*Watchtower magazine and other literature is the means God is using to dispense "food at the proper time."
*Judicial meetings are only to be held in closed rooms without the entire congregation watching and participating.
*God has always had an organization. (the Jews were separated into two kingdoms so there wasn't one unified or centralized leadership for many years.)

ive never heard of such term elsewhere.
the funny thing is you never really know when an old truth stops being current and becomes a new lie.. .

The Watchtower version of "truth" is to conform to the self-proclaimed governing body's warped Bible interpretations which leads people to become slaves to their man-made organization.
The other oxymorons are not phrases but rather the flip-flops in their doctrines which are printed in their publications.
For example, the way they "approve" or remain silent on organ transplants and then later don't approve of them.....but then again they say its a conscience matter.
The way they "approve" or leave it up the individuals to pursue higher education and then they condemn it.....

The Watchtower teaching that "cut off" implies death for eating animal blood is an obvious attempt to take the verse out of context. A dead person certainly cannot wash his clothes (as verse 15 indicates he must do.)
the phrase "cut off" here clearly does not mean death but rather the state of being unclean and removed from the clean members of the Jewish community. This is evident by verse 15 where the person eating an unbled animals is instructed to wash his garments.

It is used 54 times in the context of killing. That obviously fits the implication of destruction. But the word is also used over 30 times of being "cut off from his people". As we consider some of these verses where "karath" is used we shall see that destruction was not what was meant, or implied.

Numbers 19:13. "That person must be cut off from ". In the next sentence we are told that his "uncleanness remains on him".
Obviously, he must remain alive if his uncleanness remains on him.
The scriptures quoted above show that "karath" does not always imply destruction or consumption. To be sure, "karath" does, in some contexts, imply destruction, but not in all. Therefore, because there are so many passages where "karath" does not imply destruction, we may not automatically assume that "karath" always implies destruction.

In Deuteronomy 14:21 we find that the Law on unbled flesh states:Any Jew could give unbled meat to a stranger or even sell it! There was no penalty for either of these actions. YC

i have been studying with the jw for just over 3 years.i have always believed in god and the bible.
the path my life took ended up with me being a single parent of 4 children.. the jws led me down the path of the "truth".
my grandmother disowned me and i just couldnt understand why.i was told that satan was lurking round every corner trying to get me away from god.

Have you seen this information on the new "blood card"? The Watch Tower wants to have full access to peoples medical records by signing this card. The want to use your personal info so they (elders) can make medical decisions for you. How crazy is that????
