The Republicans - Trying to reach out?

as a former republican who is now an independent, i can understand why those outside the party view it as a good ol' boys club that caters primarily to those of the white race, especially those who relate to the southern values system.

a couple of months ago, i was chatting with a fellow co-worker who is a devout republican and he was making the comment that the "viscous left wing lunatics" have painted his party as primarily catering to just white folks.

i commented that when you look at fox news which does cater to the right (nothing wrong with that), the anchors are overwhelmingly white, the opinion shows are all lean, if not directly fall, to the right hosted by white folks, the one big lefty, colmes, is no longer on the one "balanced" show and the one remaining is always talking about setting up rallies with the music being provided by pretty much just country & western types.. he disagreed and said that sean hannity also includes many r&b and pop folks in these shows.

the ideology of fraud science? fiscal policies that will give us hyper inflation and bankruptcy? ruinous tax rates, thought police, censorship?

why not just move to North Korea where you can have all those things without waiting?

If the Democrats dropped all their other schemes and focused on ending the war on drugs and de-ciminalizing marijuana and simple possession of other drugs, and pardoned everyone in prison now on non-violent drug offenses, I would vote for Obama in the next election.

This one act would do more to help our country than anything legislated since the civil rights legislation that the Democrats opposed in the 60s.

Elsewhere seems to have trouble with reading comprehension. I asked for a list of the laws that the Democrats had passed which repealed the mandatory sentencing and drug laws since the Democrats have had total control of the Congress.

Stilll waiting.

Now it is the Democrats who support civil rights, minority rights and individual rights and the Republicans who opposed civil rights, minority rights and individual rights.

Do you mean civil rights like laws to regulate thought ('hate' crimes laws)? Laws that allow the murder of babies (pro abortion laws and funding)? Laws to censor speech ("fairness doctrine")? Are those the ones you are talking about?
