I think you should call the elder and tell him that the "negative speech" about you that you heard from your family members is causing you emotional stress (and you know that the negative speech came from said elder) and that you are giving them formal warning that they are not to come to your home again, and if they do come to your home again you will view their presence there as trespass and will call the authorities.

Do Atheists Celebrate Christmas?
by believingxjw indo atheists celebrate christmas, the celebration of christ's birth?.
if so, why?.
-
HappyGuy
Anti-Christ,
I celebrate Christmas and I could care less about all the arguments about the imaginary son of god's birthday, winter solstice, roman pagan origins ad nauseum.
It is a happy, fun celebration during an otherwise gloomy winter.
Does ANYONE really want to be turned and twisted into a doctrinal preztel over this? I don't know anyone who does.

Occult vs. Cult
by God_Delusion inoccult = "the term is also used as a label given to a number of magical organisations or orders, the teachings and practices taught by them, and to a large body of current and historical literature and spiritual philosophy related to this subject .
" - wikipedia.
cult = "scholars and non-academic researchers who use the term do so from explicitly critical perspectives which focus on the relationship between cult groups and the individual people who join them.

the two words are not related in any sense.
Prior to Christianity, mysticism and the occult (two words for basically the same thing) were basically describing seeking that which cannot be seen with the eye. The Christains turned these two words into meaning something "evil". It was the Christains who gave the connotation of Satan worship to the word "occult", occultists themselves never thought it meant that.
The word cult of course in modern times means a form of worship characterized by undue devotion to a person, group or thing.
The WTBTS is well known for misusing words in order to confuse and control the mind.

iknowitall558,
Let me see if I understand this. Because some dirty minded, small minded, busy bodies chose to "gossip" because you were seen doing the Lord's work with a male, you were not allowed to officially sign up to do the Lord's work? I'm guessing the gossip was that you must have been having sex if you were seen together in public?
Sooooooooooo, it is okay to make up lies about people and spread malicious gossip, but it is not okay to be diligent in doing the Lord's work unless you make sure that you are never in the presence of a male who is not a blood relative? Hmm, that sounds like Islam to me.

Does Our Being Former JWs Affect Our Enjoyment of XMas?
by minimus ini went to 2 parties yesterday.
i actually was invited to 4 this year.. i started out at my daughter's at 7:30 a.m. and my daughter, sil, 2 grandkids and my ex gave presents to one another.
95% of the gifts were for my 2 year old grandaughter because it was really her first xmas to unwrap presents and get into the "spirit".. then i went in the afternoon to my gf's and they had a big spread and we (once again) exchanged gifts.. here's my bottom line: i enjoyed the family and friends getting together.

My wife gave me a present on Christas Eve. The present was my wife dressed in VERY sexy lingerie with Christmas color theme, then my wife said "well, aren't you going to unwrap your present?".
I REALLY enjoyed Christmas.

I'm not a Christain, don't believe in the son of god fable. Don't care if Christmas is pagan or biblical or came from space aliens.
I LOVE Christmas. It is a time to be with friends and family and share love and gifts. I love decorating my house to offset the gloomy winter.
I could care less about small minded "Christains" who want to twist me into a doctrinal puzzle over whether December 25th is actually the imaginary son of god's birthday or not, or whether the Roman pagans celebrated the winter solstice on dec 25th and then some Pope stole their holiday and made it into a "Christain" holidy. I DON"T CARE.
Merry Christmas!!!!

Working for a JW, what a horrible experience...
by HappyGuy inone of the things that made me start doubting the wtbts and jws was the way jws treat their jw employees.. i worked for jws several times.
the experience was always the same.. 1. pay was less than the going market rate for the same work at "worldly" companies.. 2. there were no benefits of any kind, no paid holidays, no sick time, no overtime, no insurance.. 3. whenever possible the jw forced the jw employees to pay their own company related expenses like gas, pager, company uniform, etc.. 4. any attempt to discuss the poor working conditions was always responded to with "but you get to make all the meetings and you get to go to the assemblies and you get to work for brothers.
" and, if you said "i would go to meetings regardless of who i worked for" and pushed back on that answer then they started in on your "loyalty" and you were unspritual if you questioned a "brother" and were not "loyal" to your employer.. 5. any attempt to find another job was met with harassment, being told you could not give the jw employer as a reference, being threatened with lawsuits, etc.. 6. the jw employers themselves were lazy and would not do the things they expected of their jw employees.. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------.

After working for JWs for several years, one day I made up my mind that I would NEVER work for a JW again.
I firmly believe that one of the reasons that the WTBTS encourages young people not to get a proper education is to provide a steady stream of hard working, clean cut, honest young people as low cost labor for JW owned businesses.

But I will make a mental note to try not to end my posts to you with the word peace, if you find it insulting.
I did not say I found the use of the word peace insulting. I said I found the use of the word peace at the end of an insulting post to be hypocritical and nauseating.
