dgp - Thats a difficult question to answer bec as a dub we are taught to close our eyes and ears to anything that the org dont teach. Even in the Bible Teach book, very early on those who are studying are taught to ignore any outside negative influence. When I am da'd I intend to try and get out my best friend and my husband. I am not sure at this moment how I am going to do it. But I personally favour the drip drip drip affect - the same way that cult got me brainwashed in the first place.

"Put Jehovah First...." what does this mean? Anyone?

i loved god and wanted to be a spiritual person.
so, anything in the literature which told one how to be a spiritual person was of great interest to me.. i remember hearing and reading this phrase over and over and over again "put jehovah first".. don't get an education - "put jehovah first".. don't take that emt certification course that meets on tue and thursday for 6 weeks - "put jehovah first".. don't get a real career, be a janitor and "put jehovah first".. don't spend time with your "worldly" parents on the weekends, instead abandon them and fill your time up with field service and meetings and "put jehovah first".. .

alanv - I totally agree with you.
When I was in it was like a spell had been cast on me. I would have shunned my kids, possibly let them die rather than allow a blood transfusion and many other things alien to those on the outside of this cult. I would stood by it all and felt totally justified that I was serving Jehovah God. It is only now, on the outside with a mind clear of the constant crap it was being fed, that I can see just how wrong and faulty that reasoning is.
Sadly many others will get caught up in it, and also in other religions equally if not more destructive.

Generally Chewing gum. More precisely, people who are constantly chewing away at it no matter what they are doing. It is really irritating trying to have a conversation with someone chewing on gum.

How are you faders doing?
by pat1060 injust wondering how all you slow faders are doing.i know this subject is discussed many times,but personally i wish it was more.we should post every once in a while just to say how we are doing,we need to encourage each other.as for me,it is still going very slow.right now i'm looking into the history that is being covered up.i have learned so much just by reading the older threads.it is very painful for me because this was the truth.and to be finding out so much crap that 99% of jw don't even know,it just is unbelievable.i have cut my field service down,and miss more meetings then i ever did.i'm hoping the sister that is in my face all the time,trying to help me,will forget about me soon......so how are you doing?.

Well my fade was rather rapid. Didnt mean it to be but once I stopped going to meetings I just couldnt face going back. Even after all these months I still get texts, cards, emails and elder visits. I never really wanted to df or da - just wanted to fade into none existence, but now I am getting on my feet on the outside, it is coming to the time when I need to DA myself. Im not sure when I will do it, but it wont be long. I need to close that chapter and move on. Well actually, I already have moved on, but its getting to the time when I need to say this out loud.

Elder won't marry mum because my brother's gay
by iMARX ini know that the elders and all jws have stupid "conscience" decisions to make from time to time, but this topped it for me.. my brother's gay and that's why he left the religion a few years ago.
now my mum wants to get re-married to another brother but the elder that she asked to marry them both declined.
he says that it would bother his conscience too much "because of luke living with you, because he's...ya know...gay!".

I know the situation iMarx speaks of. Luke isnt df'd or da'd, he never got baptised. He lives by the rules in his mother's house. Despite this, the elder won't marry his mother or fiancee, a bro and sis both in good standing. By making an issue of this the elder calls in to question every single witness living in a household with a child/young person not living by bible standards OUTSIDE of the family home.
I am so glad to be out of it - a man made religion with pompous men and their stupid life wrecking rules!

The fact the bible is so bloody confusing is why there are so many squabbling sects/cults/religions. I figured that if the God of the bible existed he would not leave the creation he claimed to love so much, trying to work out what the damn hell he wants from us.
