Did you ever think you would end up here?
by highdose inmeaning... on this website, no longer a jw or at least no longer beliving anymore?
i never did, even 18 months ago it would have seemed impossible, unthinkable.
even though looking back the seeds of doubt had been sown for some time, i just never allowed myself to think about them... vvv dangerous thing to do!.

Introduction
by Lekore ini thought i'd introduce myself, i haven't been to the faux-truth in about 6 years now so i'm merely a small child to the 'real world.
' i grew up in said religion and attended two english speaking congregations and lastly a sign language congregation in britain.
i think this gives away my identity to some friends i have on here ;).

Women as second class citizens
by iMARX ini don't know about anyone else, but even when i was 14 or 15 i had an issue with the fact that women are weaker vessels than men and we are to be submissive to our "head" of the house etc.... people just assumed i was a moody teenager trying to be cool by disagreeing with those scriptures but i was a feminist in the making.. i even asked an elder's wife about it and i said to her: "you're a headstrong woman, how do you feel about this?
do you think you should succumb to paul's every word and do as he says all the time??".
she replied: "i hate that scripture too sarah.

Slappy, I grew up going to church until I left to join the witnesses. It is all much of a muchness. They had exactly the same attitude in church, perhaps more sweetly wrapped but same effect - man is the head, woman submissive.

Yes this was definitely an area I had a problem with too. I hated it when women were given kitchen duties like making tea, coffee etc. A job which men were never asked to do. My old cong recently had a refurb and a note came round asking 'sisters' to bake a cake. So what's up then, cant men bleeding bake......................oh I forgot they are too busy being family heads for us wimpy weak women!

How far would you go to protect your fade?
by jabberwock intrying to fade inevitably involves some compromises.
still, i wonder how far i would be willing to go in order to leave on my own terms and not be disfellowshipped or pushed to disassociate.. at what point would you just give up and let them disfellowship you or send in a letter of disassociation?.
what would you do if someone found your copy of of crisis of conscience?.

I am planning on disassociating as soon as I have had opportunity to tell close friends first and a jw I work with. There is one chap who attends my old cong about 3 times a year with his jdub wife. He was baptised many years ago but faded and then just shows up for the occasional meeting and memorial. He gets treated like crap anyway.
