I think that is the bias of reading material written by Americans. You don't expect American authors to "translate" their books into a proper English version, do you? I would hardly think they would. The rest of what you talk about is irritating. It could reflect being uneducated or laziness, (there seems to be a fair amount of confusion about things like when to use there, their or they're, then or than, etc) but sometimes people have genuine barriers to written communication, and they don't process language like you or I might. We gotta cut people some slack. :-)

'Giving Attention to the Needs of the Circuit.' Sooo uplifting...
by whereami inthese people just love instiling guilt on these poor souls.. .
at a recent circuit assembly a circuit overseer gave an awesome talk during the portion, 'giving attention to the needs of the circuit.
and with such a high pricetag, please don't let it be empty.

I heard that at one circuit assembly recently, the local needs part was about menage a trois and wife swapping. Evidently, there was audible gasping and people looking around.
How much do you think we could get for our seats on Ebay?

advice needed on speech recognition software
by quietlyleaving ini'm looking into voice recognition software.
has anyone here tried any.
the only one i've heard of is dragon software.

I work with disability accommodations, and I can say that most people use Dragon for the speech-to-text software. If you have a Mac, it has a good built in system.
But no matter what software a person chooses, they can expect to spend a few hours training the software to recognize their speech patterns. And, it only will recognize one voice at a time. So it is not something that can used for meetings, classes, or other times when different people are taking turns speaking, or when many people are speaking at once. Don't believe the accuracy rating that they give themselves. They achieve those results in a controlled environment. Also, as far as I know, you will have to speak like this:
Hi[exclamation point] [new paragraph]
Thanks so much [comma] for stopping by the other day [period] I really enjoyed our visit[period] I can't believe how big John has gotten[exclamation point][new paragraph] .....
Speech-to-text software really is amazing, and I think people for the most part are happy with the results, IF they have realistc expectations of what is involved in using it and what results to expect.
Just my 2 cents. Feel free to PM for a more in depth discussion.

I think the suggestions to meet with them, and fake it as much as possible are good. Depending on how many different people have "reported" her, maybe she can pass it off as conversations where she was looking for help with her concerns. If she is accused of something, then I think the suggestions of being contrite are good. Fess up to what they know, don't give away too much, but be very repentant about what they do know. If that doesn't seem to do any good, then I would say go to the attorney letter as your back up. I would have it ready and with you at the meeting in case things go south.

I have been drinking Kombucha recently
by asilentone inhow much and how often should i drink it?
maybe one of you know the answer.

How much you should drink is really up to your body. For some people, they can drink a lot. If you tend to be sickly, you might only be able to tolerate a little at a time since it helps to flush out toxins and can actually make you feel a bit sicker. It has a lot of good benefits, and I personally love the taste. It is a great substitute for soda. Helps with sour stomach and is good for cleansing.

A recent talk by CO Donald Holley he made it clear; once Baptized and Dedicated you were a Jehovah's Witness
UNTIL either you Dis-associated yourself in writing OR you were Dis-fellowshipped.
What if you were baptised, but NOT dedicated?? Or what if you were baptised under duress (pressure) and feel it is invalid?? Frustrated there is no
reasonable way out.

The new "Find a Brother" arrangement - I went to the meeting for the first time in months tonight
by slimboyfat ini went to the meeting for the first time in months tonight.
during the announcements the presiding overseer mentioned that the "find a brother" arrangement was being moved from wednesday nights to saturday afternoon.
what in the name of god is a "find a brother" arrangement?

I think the list on the boards you saw was the service group lists. That is how they are grouping people now instead of the bookstudy. Each group has an Elder in charge and an MS to back him up, just like the book study. Don't know what the "find a brother" arrangement is.

3/09 Study WT- new light on 'annointed'??

I just listened to this article and the only thing that I can see that might be construed as new is that the sealing of the annointed happens just before the tribulation. I have been attending meetings on and off, but not really paying attention to any doctrinal changes. So, maybe this isn't new to anyone else, but it seems to do away with the idea that we had at one time that the annointed were already all chosen. No wonder the GB keeps getting younger and younger.

New light: Generation
by 5thGeneration ingot some info from the annual meeting.. unofficially, the 'generation' is now categorized as 2 groups.
the first is 'the 1914 group' and the second is the younger anointed 'contemporaries' who 'actually work for a period of time with those anointed ones'.. the 'generation' is now 'the lifespan of those who actually saw the beginning of the sign and then the lifespan of those who worked with those who saw the beginning of the sign'.. here we go again....

One more interesting thing I read in my research ~ it is generally accepted that a generation is about 40 years. Why? Because the Isrealites were made to wander 40 years, until that "generation" died. Others say that a generation is between 30 and 100 years. Read this interesting article.
