Any Good 1975 Stories?

despite denial by the wts of any 1975 armageddon predictions zealous jw's did believe it, openly talked about it, and some even sold houses & belongings in anticipation of it.

do you have or know of any good 1975 stories?.

here's mine.........i was a freshman in college and had quit attending the kh back in hs.

"We marked 75' by burying a stash of bibles and Watchtowers under the floor of the shed. We were renting a little cottage and the place had a dirt floor shed. So we (mother and 3 kids) dug a big hole. Mum loving and carefully wrapped every book in plastic and we buried them.

We were so ready for 'the persecution' that was to come any day. We knew there had to be massive persecution before Armageddon. It was a big deal to us, so much so that when my father (who left due to the WT) started college to train as a chiro we all laughed how he would be dead before he ever graduated.

He has since retired.

Actually, bro of mine.. you couldn't.. 'coz when Mum remarried and we moved to South Aust, we dug 'em up then, remember? Despite all the silica gel we packed into them before wrapping and sealing, moisture had gotten in and they'd gone moldy..

I am officially 'mentally diseased' by WBT$ standards!

last night whilst i was relaxing 2 elders came to my door to tell me i am officially da'd because of my 'actions'.

they weren't specific but i have been to church and telling others about the wbt$ scandals.. i was told they thought i was rude for ignoring their letters and not attending my jc.. my reply: 'you were the rude ones for sending me hounding letters when i specifically asked you never to contact me!'.

i got a 'hurumph' from the lead eldub.. i don't remember the whole conversation but they were annoyed i kept referring to the wbt$ as 'just a big business' but i told them they were on my property uninvited so they'd have to listen to my opinion and i don't have to listen to theirs.

The weird thing was that each time I threw a verbal punch they had no reply!

Well... it's hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man.. or two..

do you find that years after leaving the jws birthdays just don't matter?.

i just can't get into it.

in years past the inlaws have made an effort and given a little party but now we are out country its just not a big enough deal to be bothered with.. no presents, no cake.

I hear you on the 'no big deal' thing.. birthdays are a hard habit to get into, after escaping from the Borg.

However, next year, we'll definitely have to make a big deal of your 50th..

Cedars, I took your survey. Not bad. I like your enthusiasm for finding ways to stick it to the BORG.

I only pop in here occasionally these days (moved on, and don't need the support system this place provides), but I hope you stick around.

My only (very minor) criticism of your survey? I disassociated myself, and that's what I got disfellowshipped for.. but I could only pick one or the other option to describe my status.. Being able to tick both options would have been nice.

You can id my entry by my comment about the GB. "Evil, profiteering spawn of the Rockefeller Crime Syndicate" One day, when I finish gathering the evidence, I'll explain that comment.

i want to collect a bunch of things that i can use to help my son see that the wbts and being a jw makes no sense.. i have a few in mind already.

they have to be things that might matter to a teenager, so doctrine will probably be out!.

(if you have read my last post you will see why).

sometimes i feel like i am going to lose the 'battle' for my kids.

it's hard when you only get to see them every second weekend and my boy even less now that he has his drivers licence...mates are more important than seeing dad you know.. daughter is the deeper thinking one i think.

i asked her who's message is this to which she made a guess at the witnesses.

Toilet quandries: The seat: Up/Down and Toilet paper direction

those who have lived with the opposite sex know of the frustration of being lectured about some triviality.. the toilet seat/paper controversy is among the most inflammatory.. men who forget to put the toilet seat back down inspire anger, rage, resentment and the stern lecture.. the easiest solution is to train the man to always sit down when he goes.. .

others argue over the direction of the toilet paper: forward overlap or backward underlap.. .

how do you deal with these issues and how violent do you become?.

Many times.. takes me about half a second to one second to adjust.. a lot less time than it takes to walk from the switch to the toilet..
