I've been asked to give a public talk (should I)

a friend of mine who is planing his fade, has just been made talk coordinator.

so he calls me and ask 'do i want to give a talk at his hall?

' he knows my situation and lurks on this board himself.

I wish he did, if I was your friend I would have done it.

I would have entitled the talk, "Make The Truth Your Own".

It would have focused on the boreans and how they did not just accept anything just because they were told it. How even though commendable many accept what they are taught without question, I would have then read from the "submission to God" brochure, made for muslims, about how those raised in a religion, etc, get no credit with God if they never critically look into the religion.

I'd of asked rhetorical questions on 1. Can you explain where 1914 came from? Have you researched it?

2. WHY is the FDS the only ones who can get holy spirit? If somebody asks, can they show how that started, the scriptures, etc.

3. If asking those in field service to investigate their religion, have they done the same? Can't be hypocritical.

Hopefully those who payed attention would have thought perhaps they should look all of that up so that they are firm in their beliefs and not asking those they approach in service to do what they themselves have never done.

cult classic - well if that is still able to be called ice cream, with how fake and bad it tastes, then I don't even want to imagine what the frozen dessert taste like. Breyer's neopolitan used to be sooo good when it was just milk, cream, sugar and they didn't replace it with whey and the gums to reduce costs.

bu2b - on your comment about breyer's original flavors still being ice cream, like cherry vanilla, etc, that is wrong. If it is legally still called ice cream, it doesn't taste like it. I used to LOVE cherry vanilla, cookies and cream, etc, but they have added the whey, all the gums, etc to it. It doesn't melt normal, nor taste like ice cream. Tastes like and has the texture of cool whip or something. It feels real light too, like 1/2 the mass of what it should be.

Just about 1,400 now and rising.

To those who say the shunning policy, etc, is all religious freedom and nobody is forced to do it, etc, here is what I have to say about that....

If the religion was teaching that those who want God's favor MUST beat up gays, yet they aren't forcing it, you can bet the law would do something about that.

The religion draws people in from LIES, lies and twisting, very evident in that on the website it makes it appear they don't shun ex members. Or nowhere in a bible study, in bible teach book, etc, do they teach that one must obey the GB. (it's quietly put in after one is attending meetings, from the WT's), etc.

If a religion would not be tolerated to teach violence on people, or to teach must kill certain people, then I'm sure teaching emotional abuse/blackmail/deceit also can fall under illegal.

If allowed to keep it, They should be forced and required to disclose fully the shunning policy and family publically. Not lie and twist it on the website so interested ones are tricked. It should clearly say those who become members, if in the future decide to leave, that all ex members are shunned. If they dissassociate (leave), or commit sin and they judge them not repentant, they are shunned.

OR they should be forbidden from teaching emotional abuse/blackmail on others. If one doesn't believe in the religion, then forbid them from requiring members to shun them, especially own family members.

What's my objection to guar and tara gum? You also forgot the whey as well.

1. It doesn't taste like ice cream anymore.

2. Used to be the melted ice cream was delicious to drink up. Now what happens when it melts is it doesn't actually melt. It turns into this warm airy goo or becomes something of a texture of thick shaving cream. Tastes disgusting.

Elders have no business texting a married woman. That's as bad as one meeting alone with one. (all according to JW terms). I'd report that to the CO like another person said.

I looked in the store last night and couldn't find any ice cream without the whey and gum crap added! If blue bell is just milk, cream and sugar then I'll get it!

It used to be just milk cream sugar than whatever flavor was added. Here is what is added to what used to be my favorite but is disgusting now.... WHEY, MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES, CAROB BEAN GUM, GUAR GUM, CARRAGEENAN, NATURAL FLAVOR, VITAMIN A PALMITATE, TARA GUM.

On breyer's own website they explain why they don't have 'ice cream' on the label anymore.

What a bunch of lies. I like how they try to make it seem that real ice cream is very fattening, etc, and that the chemical mixture they made up which is undoubtably much cheaper is supposed to be what people prefer.

That's why they weigh to light, don't melt properly, taste like SH$$.

If I can't find any ice cream in stores that are just milk, cream, sugar, then time to buy a $50 ice cream maker and make it myself.
