Varying Rules in the Congregation
by cantleave inthe society rarely phrases its man made rule as thou shall or shalt not, but makes "suggestions".
the elders of each congregation will then enforce those "suggestions" to a greater or lesser extent, depending on the demographics of each elder body.
the inconsistancies result in uncertainty and that in itself becomes an additional form of control.. it is possible for someone who has only experienced only one or two congregations to read someone elses experience on a site like this one and may think, that does not happen in the organisation.

I have been in 6 congregations all different all with their own way of doing things. Some were good and some were bad and ultimately it came down to the elders in each whether they cared for the flock or their own self importance.

It is a lovely letter I hope that someone does you the courtesy of reading it. At least you are able to think for yourself and look at scriptures with a clear mind seeking the answers you needed. Whatever they decide I can't believe God would condemn you for an honest evaluation of scripture.

No it is not ok. Hemoglobin is still too close to blood to be regarded as a proper fraction. I think in the Gods word book it is still classed as forbidden.
Blood that has been divided into red cells and white cells is still forbidden.
Products or fractions derived from the red cells and white cells are a matter of conscience.
2 steps down from whole blood ok, one step down not ok.

It was sad looking at all of my congregation members yesterday!
by RULES & REGULATIONS ini went to the meeting yesterday and found it to be a sad experience.
(i've been fading over the years and down to 2 meetings per month).
i looked around and found that there are no new members.just family members and friends.

How can a religon that thinks it will be responsible for running the whole earth post armageddon be so backward? Really if armageddon came tomorrow how many people realistically will need their windows cleaned and their hair cut? The watchtower actions and doctrines don't match at all. It is all about obediance and control. Take Haiti for example where 40 families took refuge in a kingdom hall, were they proactive in helping others or searching for food and water? No they waited there for help to arrive because they had been taught that the GB helps in disasters. It is a religon that teaches passive obediance. That is what is so frustrating, no one is being prepared for a new order or life in a paradise Earth, they are being conditioned to accept whatever they are told and not think for themselves. If they are the only ones left after the big A the human race will starve to death.

Being human means we make mistakes, it's human nature. You made a doozie and you deserve to feel some guilt. However you don't deserve to suffer an eternity of pain and anguish that is just self indulgence. Drinking does not help it's like painting a house that suffers from dry rot so stop before you start circling the drain.
On the plus side you haven't tried to justify your appalling behaviour you know you did wrong, that is very adult. You need to take control of your life and start making positive choices. Start addressing the issues that made you cheat in the first place and make you drink when things go pear shaped in the second. It may be too late to salvage this relationship but by taking positive steps now you will be in a better position to make the best of any new one in the future. No relationship will benefit if one half always takes refuge in alcohol when things go wrong.
I do feel sorry for you but you must help yourself, I know what it is like to wallow in self pity it is not a good place to be and it is best not to linger.

Work Related: Am I correct for being angry?
by Elsewhere inmy manager expects (never directly ordered me), but expects me to have my work laptop booted up at home every evening after work, all weekend long and every holiday so i can monitor my email and promptly respond to emails.. .
am i wrong for being pissed off about this?.
the company i work for is always talking about their "work life balance" program for employees.

It is unacceptable if you are available by cell then perhaps issue an email saying that you will not be in a position to use your lap tops outside office hours and if you are required then please can they call you on your cell phone. Copy your manager in and see if he makes an issue of it.
If he does keep a copy of all out of office hours emails and your responses and show them to him at your next review indicationg how intrusive they are and how much time it takes.
I was in a similar position except I was expected to go into my place of work to sort out issues some of which occured early in the morning (24hr site) When I decided to leave I got copies of the clocking in records and showed personnel that I had worked an extra week's worth of hours in a 2 month period for which I wasn't paid, not including travelling time. It also showed that I hadn't had a full weekend off in 3 months. If you have family it is not on. Keep a record of how much time you spend checking mail what isn't measured can't be quantified.

sorry about your cat, would you like to learn how you can live forever?
by rockmehardplace inthat is exactly what i told someone in field service once.
i went to the door with another brother, and started my presentation.
i noticed the lady was crying and asked if everything was ok. she said that they just got back from the vet, and that they had to put the cat to sleep.

I like to think it is just a story, but every time I do something crass or remember some howler from the ministry I comfort myself with the thought that at least I didn't do that. It's the benchmark for stupidity that I hope never to suppass.
