A DVD about the adventures of spar lock would be so much more entertaining. it would be funnier if it could be available outside the convention centres.

I do know of an instance where a very humble sister appoached the elders and requested the opportunity to get rebaptised because she did not feel she was baptised for the right reasons and this was permitted. This would mean tht her original baptism was annulled. However the situation was different to yours in that her purpose was to get rebaptised, she was still attending meetings, she had not been Df'd or Da'd.
One thing I do object to in the baptism questions is the questions relating to DF'ing are extremely limited and do not actually address the area of disagreement with the religious doctrine. They are couched in such a limited way that someone getting baptised would never envision a time when those scriptures would apply to them. As such, people getting baptised are not made fully aware of the consequences of their decision and therefore are not making an informed decision when they take the oath. After all if a minor is asked questions about fornication what level of understanding would they have about what that means? If you were a minor when baptised I would ask a lawyer to write to the society since you were not old enough to sign a contract you were not old enough to make a verbal one either. Hoever once the decision is made it is hard to get them to annul it.

Welcome back, so sorry that things have not gone smoothly. This religion can be a depressing influence in life it stabs people in the back and spits them out.

Its been great....
by stuckinamovement init is funny how this site works.
people lurk, they join, they post, and then they fade away because they have healed enough to focus on other positive things.
that is pretty much where i am at.

JW family indoctrination is harming my daughter
by uk_ex_jw ini will cut to the chase quite quickly.. i was a jw up until 2007 when i officially cut my ties, although i was a regular visitor to this site for 3-4 years beforehand.. i married a jw in 2004, had a child, and in 2007 we separated and divorced.
my daughter went to live with her mother.. my ex-wife also left the jw's in 2007 following the breakdown of our marriage.. my daughter is six now and i speak to her every week on the phone - she lives 100+ miles away from me with her mother, her step-father and two younger siblings.. i live with my partner and my two-year-old son.. during school holidays, my daughter comes to stay with me for sometimes a week or on occasions longer.. her maternal, great-grandmother and great auntie are staunch/strict jw's and i know they have been trying to fill my daughters head with watchtower teachings for the past couple of years.. i have contacted her mother and made it clear that i am not happy with this approach.
my daughter celebrates christmas/birthdays etc and any jw teaching is going to be contradictory to this.

It sounds like her mum is being sucked back in. If she was fully out then she would want her daughter to have normal childhood experiences. She probably has difficulty standing up to her relatives. This is your child spiralling the drain so you need to be there for her. At her visit take her out for a birthday meal and have a cake with candles. Tell her you love her and want to celebrate the day she came into your life. See if you can get her to open up and talk about what has happened at home. When you know then you can work out the best approach.
I agree that a personal visit and face to face chat may be required and certainly it may be worth approaching a solicitor to see if you can place any restrictions on contact by jw relatives. They won't stop but it will give you leverage if you also want to have greater custody. If her mother won't allow her to have holidays ask to have custody at these times.

Wow it must be hard work for jws working out who to shun. Soon it will include ex return visits. If things keep going on at the same rate they will soon only be able to talk to one another.

Can someone help me understand how this young man thinks?
by camicia inmy daughter is unbaptized but is recognized as jw since she goes out door to door.
a baptized brother in high standing took some interest in her (staring, flirting, hanging about, hugging while intoxicated then keeping his distance before going back again and then withdrawing again ) and she ended up getting emotionally attached to this jerk & let him know.
in between long drawn out silences he turned her down, saying "i don't know you" though he'd had long conversations with her (though would ignore her the following day after they had any close alone time) she said "all the jw stuff aside, did you ever like me as well?

The young man may be conflicted as others have suggested. When these sort of issues occur the jw response is not a mature one and being withdrawn is a very common reaction. Your daughter is seen as a problem and a temptation, he is attracted but knows he shouldn't be. Your daughter is not girlfriend material for him because although she is doing the right things she is not baptised and no appointed man would be considered in good standing if he acted on his feelings. When his inhibitions are lowered then he has let his guard down but later has all the guilt and self loathing.
You daughter is in a difficult position and this man is behaving badly, toying with her emotions and blowing hot and cold. For her own emotional well being she needs to distance herself from him. If he is unable to discuss his feelings with her now and be honest with her then he lacks a degree of emotional maturity. However I would avoid telling her he is an idiot as she won't want to here it.

Opinions on keeping your identity secret
by rebel8 insome ex-jws feel strongly we should all be "out of the closet" so we can present real faces to the public on the issue of cult dangers.
to those folks i say, more power to you, all the best.. for my own life i have a different approach.. compartmentalizing is healthy for me.
it keeps my past in the past.

Circumstances and people vary so it would be reasonable to suppose that a variety of strategies would be required. People are also at different stages of their exit and may change their mind regarding their approach as time progresses. To suggest that there is only one way to do things is to deny someone their freedom to choose for themselves and to go back to the idea that there is one truth.
