There comes a point when it is easier to support the lie than tell the truth. Cults are complex entities with people investing part of themselves in it. To admit that the cult is wrong is also admitting that they were wrong to believe it and that they were duped. People's pride makes it difficult to admit to the mistake. Also when everyone around you tells you that they believe then it is difficult to see the flaws. The GB are constantly receiving positive reinforcement about their position and status and it is very easy for them to believe their own hype after a while.

Your friend cannot process the idea that you are in a happy relationship and that your life outside the JWs can be fufilling and worthwhile. As a JW he has to work on the assumption that your life is immoral, miserable and worthless and that you can only be truly happy by returning to the organisation. He is the victim of his own assumptions you are free of them and can be a truly expressive and compassionate person.

Jehovah's Witnesses: Fastest Growing Christian Group in the US
by davidl7 inthe yearbook of american and canadian churches statistics listed the jehovah's witnesses as the fastest growing christian group in the us for 4 years in a row (the 2008-2011 yearbooks).
the 2011 yearbook reported a 4.37% growth rate (based on 2010 membership figures).
according to the 2012 yearbook, the growth of the jehovah's witnesses was 1.85%, falling into 4th place.

I would be interested in the source data and how membership is discerned. Since I do not trust the base data JWs use when they publish membership numbers whether it has gone up or down is pretty irrelevant. I imagine other fundamentalist churches massage their data but unless everything is calculated the same comparisons are useless.

Terry gum infection can be awful, I had an absess in my gum whilst pregnant and couldn't think of anything but the pain. I could feel my pulse in my teeth it was truly dreadful. I can't even bear to think of how much pain you were in. It is good to see you back on your feet and out of hospital.

Pain is so hard to cope with. If you are in hospital then there are things they can do after all you pay for the treatment and being in constant discomfort is not effective treatment.
I am so sorry you are suffering.

wardrobe 'malfunction' while in service
by nuthouse escapee inbusy street, lots of houses.

elastic waistband of my slip died and my slip was hanging 6 inches below my dress.. anyone else have an embarrassing service tale to share?.

once out in service I was wearing knickers over my tights to keep them up but they were and old pair and didn't have strong enough elastic. The tights started to fall down and the knickers reached the point of no return and fell to the floor. I stepped out of them scooped them up and put them in my service bag, what else could I do?

So sorry that you received such a message. I despair sometimes the way doubt leads to hate and contempt. This is hardly what you would expect from a professed christian.

The title of this forum should be changed to Judas' Witnesses.net to accurately reflect it's makeup.
by Theocratic Sedition ini've been browsing here for some time now and i've read the erroneous arguments supporting 587, the petty feelings over the un, blah blah blah.
this is a community of disgruntled people telling each other what they want to hear.
you've all essentially created your own truth, tickling your own ears.

I think you receive more honest appraisal of witnesses and their beliefs here than you will on the official site.
It is a rare opportunity to see yourself through the eyes of others and I hope the op has benefited from the experience.

Hare Krishnas? I Know This Site Is For JW But . . .
by InterestedOne ini have learned a lot about cults on this site and cannot thank you all enough for helping me get a sense of what is going on with my jw acquaintance.
as it turns out, another friend of mine told me she goes to the hare krishna temple.
she is a wonderful person, and we have been spending time together having long conversations.

In a recent publication from ICSA Hare Krishna were listed as a high control group or sect. The article was discussing child abuse and listing evidence for physical abuse of children within the sect. Any extreme religious group is problematic.

"we were just talking...shes not free to remarry...we werent flirting or doing anything wrong"
by WuzLovesDubs inthats what my soon to be exhusband just said to me.
i finally after 25 years of dealing with him and the jws and a litany of other shit, told him two weeks ago i want out.
he wrote me a letter this week and made a list of allllll the things he hates: about my beliefs, the fact that i left jehovah, broke my vows to god, my hobbies, celebrations, what i watch on tv, my parenting, keeping the kids out of the jws, not having any friends....and then said well i dont hate "you".

Your husband may say he is working on the marriage but his actions speak otherwise. He wants you to be the bad guy to make it all your fault and make you ease his path to remarriage. Throwing a magazine at you and telling you that there is a witness woman who is a better wife prospect are hardly the actions of a man trying to relight the fires of marriage.
He is the one moving on and a slave to his raging hormones but he wants you to be the one to be subjected to personal questions about your life and suffer indignity so he can get married again should his listening ear be in a position to marry.
I find this element of JW life totally seedy and rather disgusting. He is the one bound by these rules and your life is your business. He will have to either wait for you to remarry or he will have to bite the bullet himself. If he is desperate to "move on" then you will probably find unwelcome attention. The assumption that you would be willing to sleep around or write a letter detailing your sexual exploiuts is the ultimate lack of respect.
