we have not attended any meetings for several months now as we continue our fade.
how have you dealt with the nosey parkers who hold the territory that you live in and insist on "dropping by".
first it was the family that holds the card and then a coule of other familes as they work our territory.. i am tired of not answering the door (they know we are home) and need a cute but not revealing comeback to the "we miss you at the meetings" line.
My husband says to nosey parkers
"Thank you for your concern, we are dealing with some personal issues at the moment but we know where you are if we need you so there is no need to call. Thank you again. goodbye."
You don't need to explain yourself. In fairness they think they are being loving shepherds but for us faders they are a total pain you have my sympathy. By keeping it light and friendly you don't jeopardise your fade.

It very much depended on the congregation. The first congregation we joined as a married couple was wonderful. The brothers were warm and I had many good friends. I did feel included and part of something bigger. The congregation I am in now has cliques and people are judged very much on the basis of wealth and position. In addition a lot of the families are inter related.
We are one of the few families with no relatives in the circuit. I would often attend the meeting and feel ignored by my supposed brothers and sisters. congregation dos always seem a little forced. In this congregation I have felt less love and less part of anything bigger or better. It all seems to be about politics not religon.
I'd like to thank them if I had been with the warm, loving brothers I may have taken longer to wake up.

This is sad we were commenting to someone the other day how years ago those that died were seen by us as ancient, really old, they were grandparents and great grandparents. Now we seem to lose parents, siblings, aunts and uncles. Death is getting closer and more present the loss deeper. Some of those who are dying were the very ones who thought they would never die at all and they are not prepared. It must be hard for the elderly at the hall with everyone watching them like hawks seeing if they will make it or not.
It would be nice if people were to wake up to the lie before it was too late life is short death is for a very long time.
so for some people, there is the one breaking point that makes people leave.
for me, not so much about doctrine, but about how people treated one another.
i always heard that we show we are the true religion because we have love among ourselves.
I hate lies whether by an individual or by an organisation. Mistakes I accept but when I truly discovered the depth of the lies and the cruelty involved in maintaining them they lost me. The arrogance is breathtaking whilst telling the R&F to be humble. This double standard goes against everything a Christian should be.
i signed up for a mindfulness course regarding chronic pain.
we were 16 people and 3 leaders in a huge room.
sound bounced around and i had a terrible time hearing anything.
At least you know there is a problem and are doing something about it. As Leec said there is so much that can be done now to improve hearing so hopefully things will get better from here on in. Bad news is never pleasant but in this case you needed to know. Perhaps you can sign back on the course when the hearing issue is resolved it would be a shame to miss out on important information completely.

i went to the dentist today, fearing i had a mouth infection and expecting to be given a prescription for antiobiotics and sent on my way...but noooo, the dentist says one of my wisdom teeth is rotten and pulls it out right there and then!
he said i was very calm and did well but i feel like somone's hit me in the face with a hammer.
have any of you had a wisdom tooth out?
I had all four out in hospital as my mouth is too small for them. As a diabetic they give you what is called a sliding scale one drip gives you glucose the other insulin during the operation. They also knock you out completely which was great. The only problem I had was that they left the glucose drip in and took the insulin away. My blood sugar rose to over 24 (normal range 4 to 6) and the nurses wouldn't take it out without doctors say so. I felt dreadful but at least it distracted from the gaping holes in my gums.
Although it was bad at the time it is so much better now. It is worth it in the long run.

otwo I think you have the nubb of it. Really the purpose of these silly rules is to isolate the JW from others. I used to be desperately worried whenever I went to some event that the anthem would be played just in case I would do the wrong thing.
The rule put simply is if seated stay seated, if stood up stay standing. Mad and stupid.
