  My family is trying to gather Intel on me......through my 5 yr old!!

  i don't have conclusive evidence yet, but i'm pretty sure that my mom and siblings are asking my 5 yr old questions to find things out, such as, whether we attend meetings or not, if we celebrate holidays, do we go in service etc.. maybe i'm just being paranoid.....but i don't think so..

  You may be right but also remember that in JW life meetings,assemblies, field service etc all are common topics of conversation. Your daughter commenting on a day out at the weekend may be enough for a JW to ask why they weren't at the meeting or on the service.

  That being said JWs are nosy about other JWs and have serious issues with personal space and snooping. Just monitor the situation for now and be aware that now the cat is well and truly out of the bag if they weren't snooping before they will be now.

  Would You "Technically" Remain A Jehovah's Witness If There Were No Sanctions Involved?

  many of us have drifted.

  we know it isn't the truth but we might not have officially resigned as jws.

  many catholics are nominal catholics and they are not shunned or avoided because of their not going to church or confession.. would you remain a jw if the organization didn't punish you for your inactivity?.

  But if you think about it there is a benefit to having some religious affiliations even if not a practicing member. E.G. Nominal church membership allows you to get married in a historic building if you wish. There are few benefits to being a witness other than being able to speak to relations and friends still in which should be a human right. Witnesses just take things from you and give promises for the future all benefits come in paradise they are a rubbish faith.

  Birthday the big 50

  well i am hitting the big one on friday and i am happy it will soon be over.

  it is lovely that all my new friends are excited for me, its just a little hard to get into it wholeheartedly when i am still nervous to get our son home.. .

  still i did buy 6 bottles of champagne...so there must be a party feeling coming up in me!.

  i've been out since 1998 so i've had time to learn how to be normal.

  i've had time to get over the pain and hurt of shunning by those who claimed to love me.

  i really can't blame them because my mom was born in too.

  No there have been a lot of wasted years but I refuse to let some old men in Brooklyn have that amount of power over me. I will learn from the experience and use it to empower my future efforts.

  Attended our first "worldly" cookout last weekend

  just thought i'd share that we attended our first "worldly" cookout last weekend.

  everyone got drunk and it turned into a huge orgy.

  at the end we sacrificed one of the partygoers to gozer the destroyer.. not!.

  Good for you I'm sure it will get more comfortable as time goes on but at least you're out there making new friends. Sounds like a great evening even though there was no human sacrifice.
