Terry you can have my sofa any time. It is hard work dealing with mental illness of any kind and your cousin's husband is coping as best he can but need professional support especially if there is the threat of violence. If her rages are unexpected and explosive then working in a kitchen with her is problematic as who knows when she may go into a rage.

Aung San Suu Kyi on Desert Island Discs
by nugget ini particularly enjoyed the programme this friday and would recommend it.
for those unfamiliar with this bbc radio 4 show famous people are asked to choose records they would take with them if they are stranded on a desert island.
they are allowed to take one book (they are given the bible and the complete works of shakespeare) and one luxury.

I particularly enjoyed the programme this Friday and would recommend it. For those unfamiliar with this BBC radio 4 show famous people are asked to choose records they would take with them if they are stranded on a desert island. They are allowed to take one book (they are given the Bible and the complete works of Shakespeare) and one luxury.
The records are played on the show and the person being interviewed explains why they chose them.
As Aung San Suu Kyi has spent many years under house arrest in Burma it was interesting to see how she reflected on her life choices. In particular I was struck by her viewpoint that having made a choice she did not see her "suffering" as a sacrifice. She was prepared to walk the path she had chosen and embrace her choices.
If you get 45 minutes to spare it is worth a listen.
In the meantime what 8 records would you pick and what luxury and book would you choose.

I have a number of family favourite recipes that we have tried and tested. At the moment we are trying to develop some veggie ones simply because it is cheaper and healthier to eat some vegetarian meals during the week rather than all meat.
One good tip I have found is that by adding balsamic vinegar and sugar to a tomato pasta sauce you get a much better depth of flavour.
Vanilla extract added to pancake batter is also a winner and lemon zest added to curry lifts the flavour.
Beignets are easier and quicker than choux buns and creme pat is easy peasy to make from scratch.

Ever wonder this about the annointed?
by free2beme inso in the congregation you had those wine and bread loving annointed people?
but i ask, why did the men that were annointed not immediately appointed as an elder, and then a circuit overseer and so on up the ranks.
it would seem to me, that if god saw them fit to rule in heaven.

Since annointed choose themselves the society has no control over them and therefore is unlikely to promote them within the organisation.

Apostates are narrow-minded victims of brainwashing who believe everything they read
by cedars inor so says the person who left this comment on jwsurvey.org.... what just amazes me is how people can pass judgement on others, make vast sweeping statements and make out that they know best.
this isnt just based on this page, but other pages ive read on this website.
while youre at it why not just say all black people are criminals, all asians are rapists and all white people molest their children.

JWs are deluded people and this comment shows they are. They complain about generalizations whilst making sweeping tatements of their own. I have argued with JWs and had tremendous fun doing so but I know that they just cannot see the flaws in their own arguments.
It is good to have their perspective on a page it shows they took the time to look. They are not as strong in the religion as they think they are that is the irony.

What does Disfellowshiping really mean?
by nolongerconfused innot sure if i spelled the word right, but:.
as some of you probably know i'm no longer active and have stopped attending etc...etc.... if one is disfellowshipped for whatever reason, including not agreeing with wtb doctrine...does the wtbs consider you worthy of death come armageddon?
i saw the trial transcript and that's what they believed in the 50's...anyone have any recent quote from their publications explaining how they see a disfellowshipped person?.
-
nugget
Df'ing is not about death it is about silence. It is a convenient label that means that you are dangerous to the organisation and that association with you may encourage others to question their faith. By giving you a convenient label they effectively build a symbolic wall around you that prevents you being seen and heard and they use it as a tactic to bully you into submission.

Why should this annoy me?
by punkofnice inlong story short.
i left the wbt$ and was forcibly da'd for attending a church.. wifey says she 'chooses' not to talk to me about 'spiritual'(tm) matters.
i told wifey that she didn't 'choose' but was told not to talk to me about such matters by some men in brooklyn.

It annoys you because you are a human being with feelings that can be hurt. We know that JWs are capable of mean spirited actions but it still hurts when they do this to us. It hurts more because it is unjustified and slanderous.
As you move further away from them what they think will mean less to you.
