this is so sad, but you no we are very, very, very close to the end of this system.i am so glad because i hate this system and satan along with it.
I honestly don't think many of them think that way. Maybe I am giving them too much credit, but hopefully less than 10% really feel that way.
I kept it out of mind. I think most active JWs do as well. They don't dwell on the 6.5 billion deaths required for their paradise, becasuse if they actually thought about it day in and day out they would eventually leave. When it does come up into their heads during a silent moment they play the "Jehovah reads hearts" card mentally and forget about it.

Jesus needs to go on a trip. But he cannot take his children along, so he hires a "faithful slave". His instructions to them are simple: Take care of our flock. Feed them, make sure follow my teachings, and keep them from harm." When Jesus returns, though, he is shocked to see that his children are being worked over like unpaid employees. They are selling magazines, sitting in repetitive meetings, and being force fed cherry picked doctrines that put the "slave" in charge rather than Christ. They are crying for the "slaves" attention, but their cries go unheeded. Why? They are over managing a factory, forcing the children to print more books and magazines. Furious, Christ demands an explanation. The "slave" replies: "Look at all that I did! Isn't the Watchtower the most read magazine in the world? I got the children to spend more than 1.5 billion hours last year distributing the magazines too!" Would Christ feel better? Harldly! He never asked the slave to run a publishing and real estate empire; he just wanted their children cared for. The "slaves" refusal to heed his instructions would infuriate him.

but oil prices are going up, and $4 a gallon gas will probably be here by memorial day, and $5 gas by the summer.

I remember the last time gas prices starting getting out of control. One of the elders was downright angry with the sentiment of some of the publishers. Apparently they had given off the impression that because they were paying so much for gas in service, that was to be their "donation" and nothing was going into the contribution box.
High gas prices will sqeeze all of us, but for JWs it could mean a lot less going to Brooklyn.

Evidently, Jehovah didn't get the memo, or he isn't endorsing the GB's plan. You would think that with this loving arrangment in place, Jehovah would take note and arrange for middle eastern turmoil to be delayed at least a few months, keeping gas reasonable. Now more JWs will be hit in the pocketbook as they drive the territory in April.

we were discussing a sister at my hall who did something years ago.
What ever happened to our friend itsacult....I'm sure he would have something insightful to say like "itsacult"
But your story is right in line with everything I have observed. Its like Jesus' sacrifice doesn't mean a thing to this bunch. Its not only about "What have you done for the org lately?" its also about "What rules have you broken in the past?"
I got into trouble in my late teens, I was never considered for any signifcant "privileges" until I moved halls about 8 years later. I didnt change a thing from the old hall to the new, but suddenly I was on the radar to be a MS. I'm sure my rep at the old hall was held against me.

Sounds like they are begging at this point. After waiting so long and God not listening to all of their prior predictions, I cant blame them.
i've only recently (within the last year) started listening to christian music.
some of it is pretty cheesey, but i'm getting into a lot of it.

this is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.
A lot has to do with the conditioning the WT puts on women, especially the married ones. They have to answer to everyone. Not enough that they have Gods rules, and WT rules, they also have the headship rule.
Especially for "sisters" born in, they are told what to do from day 1. I think that may make many of them unwilling/unable to break through the fog and think independently.
Many of them also are isolated socially to a greater extent than men. Most men in the org work, while probably 25% of women work full time, and another 25% work part time. A guy will get a larger world view being at work, while the sisters who are essentially isolated with only their field service buddies to talk to will be limited in their chance to break out of the WT mold.
