Hey Roxane, your instincts are correct. It is a bit surprising they are not "love bombing" you at this point. Usually they will hold off on their comments and suspicions as they try to recruit you into the cult.

i got a text this morning from my 17 year old nephew.
he told his parents last night that he didn't want to go to any more meetings and he was not attending the memorial because he doesn't believe the way jdubs believe.
i'm not sure how his parents have responded.

I think prior to the "new light" about paradise earth which was delivered by da judge in the early 30s, everyone was considered anointed so they of course would all partake.
an older fellow knocked on my door rather insisitently today and gave me an invitation to the memorial.
i told him that i didn't mean to be personally offensive to him but he was in a cult and didn't know it, and that it destroyed families (i didn't want to be rude, but i did want him to know that i wouldn't simply take his invitation out of courtesy because he was being nice - i wanted to make the point that i'm on to what the wt is all about and i wanted to do it in a way that was unmistakeable).
i said that's not what christianity is about.
It used to be that JWs actually wanted to talk to you, nowadays they are just "hit and run" preachers.
since i woke up from the delusion of the jw cult, i have seen things very differently.. it seems to me that all the gb and their suck ups gear up for is money and/or power.. eg.

The real problem is the incorrect application of that scripture MLE. Jesus didn't set up a two-class system of Christians, the WT did.
So the WT uses that verse to soak the rank and file from the bottom up in the name of "supporting Christ's brothers" In the meantime, JWs miss the true meaning of that verse in that they should be helping each other out, and *gasp* even extending charity to others in the form of clothing and food among other things. Instead they hand out cult literature to hungry, and pat them on the back and say "Keep warm and well-fed."

Power first, money is the juice that runs the engine.
They have a perfect setup. They read the "accounts report" every month from the stage at the local hall. This "transparency" tricks everyone into thinking that it isnt about money because the average hall has a few thousand in the account.
Meanwhile, at headquarters there isn't a shred of transparency. How much do they have there? A hundred million? A few billion? Ten billion or more? If the rank and file really knew, I think a lot of them would finally wake up.

we also just back from our circuit assembly.. co told us that we have 1700 pubs in the circuit and approx 50% are involved this month in pioneer work.

The whole "angels are directing JWs" thing has to be one of the most delusional statements made by witnesses today. If angels direct the JW preaching work, they must be the biggest lot of incompent fools in the universe.

Unfortunately, in most cases JWs extend love based on a persons relationship to the WT corporation. Sounds like your ex is maybe wants to make up for her past failings, but she can't really be a real mom because your son isn't being led around by the Watchtower.
Sounds like she has recruited a few familiy members to "love bomb" him for a while, and hopefully recruit him.
As far as having a "healthy relationship" with them, I wouldn't expect that. Conditional love isn't healthy, and that is what they are extending to your son.
get this: she called me up to tell me a well dressed man came to her house and actually invited her for dinner, a "meal" at the local kingdom hall on the memorial evening.. he gave her the invitation to enjoy the meal with him and quite a few other people on the night the "meal" was being served.. i explained to her that the dinner only consisted of wine and unleavened bread and that she could only watch the bread and wine being passed but if she got a hold of the plate or the cup she had to just give it the next person.. she asked, "you mean there's no dinner like he said?
