I second what Broken Promises said about not using the meet up group for preaching or the other. We had a lady show up a few months back that wanted to do that. Quickly nipped it in the bud. Just sometimes it is good to get with others who have had some of the same experiences and understand some of our quirky thought processes.

Is anybody interested?
by onemore in.....in getting together for fellowship, spiritual encouragement and biblical discussions?.
i (as well as many) am doing fine, but sometimes i feel the need to get together with some friends for spiritual fellowship...i dont want to go back to the kh searching for it, because i know i will not find it there.
im also hesitant about looking for christian fellowship in another church, as i dont feel ready for that just yet.. .

High School Renunion and Hypocrite Jw

i was one of 2 ex jws and there was one current jw there.
the current jw shut me out, but i saw a fb post today between the other ex and the same current jw.

Last night I attended a 80's reunion for my High School. I was one of 2 Ex JWs and there was one current JW there. The current JW shut me out, but I saw a FB post today between the other ex and the same current JW. BTW the current JW is on FB and doesn't have any blocks on her account. Talk about dumb. But there was plenty of other "worldly" people I could talk with and have fun with, so I did. But what a hypocite!

Check out Meetup.com or Yahoo Groups. I belong to an Ex Jw group in the Tampa Bay area. Yeah, not too close ot NY, but I bet you can find something like it up there. It has helped me a LOT.

by troubled mind injust never ceases to amaze me how things in the organization stay the same .
you would think by 2011 these guys could come up with something better than " makeup now ,you know jehovah hates a divorcing !

As a child I used to wish and pray that my mom would leave my father who was abusive. The same thing, how she couldn't leave him because of the violence, only adultery. It was the hardest thing to stay silent and in my chair at his memorial service a month ago when the elder spoke about how much he loved his family, wife and children. I was almost sick. Yes, the elder was one when the abuse was going on. Thank God I got away and never married a dub.

I have to ask, What is a homosexual problem? Not finding another homosexual to date? And what would be the problem with someone in the immediate family having a mental or nervous problem? It isn't contagious.

So Sad

i found them, thanks facebook.
yesterday, i drove 1.5 hours to meet with one of them.

After my JW father passed away a few weeks ago, I decided to track down my cousins who had also left as they came of age. I found them, thanks Facebook. Yesterday, I drove 1.5 hours to meet with one of them. We had a nice lunch and some shopping. I did mention I was going to my mother's (still JW) in a couple of weeks to help her clean out my dad's shed. Maybe my cousins could come with me? and see some of he family. They thought it sounded like a good idea and I should have just shown up with them. But no, I had to call my sister (pioneer JW) and see what she said. Today, when I called my mom about all she said is you know they are both DF, don't you? I said it didn't matter to me at all. But it looks like we won't be having that mini family reunion. So sad. But I am going to continue to see them andvisit with them.

i confidently informed her that the cross was a pagan symbol not used by christians.
the romans were pagans, so they used a pagan symbol.

I once had a guy tell me he was a demon worshiper. That was his opening line. I was about 19 and I just burst out laughing. Mind you this was a possible redneck ( a big truck and boat in the yard) in his 40's.

I am frustrated!

My father recently passed away and I have been calling my mom once a week to check on her. She is 69 but has had breast cancer and suffers from fibromyglia. I try to avoid any JW topics, just want to make sure she is okay and doesn't need anything. She has said a couple of times how hard it is on her that I am DA (and have been for 20 years). Then I know it is time to say goodbye.
She was born into the "Truth" and no way would she consider anything else. I will not even try. Right now she just thinks I wanted to live my own life, not that I have found out about all the lies in the "Truth."

Hurricane Charlie hit Florida on Friday the 13th, August 2004. Before that no fear of 13. Since then, if a Hurricane is bearing down on us close to the 13th, I'm heading to Georgia!
