Omg haha. I remember when it was MySpace and Bebo that they hated. And the elder called it MyFace!
I can't believe that they're banning them all with the threat of withdrawal of privileges! Where abouts are you Straight shooter? USA?
my wife told me that at the last meeting, the elders announced that youngsters going to the skateboarding park were no longer to have any privileges in the congregation.
this is to prevent jw youngs to be rounded up if a drug raid was made at the skateboarding park.. also because of individuals requesting that they be friends on facebook that contain bad pictures, that anyone with a facebook account will automatically have their privileges removed.. sounds like the pharasees protecting the people by adding additional traditions upon them.. .

i know some people who swear by it.
and i know that according to the jw's its meant to be one of the ultimate wicked things to do but now that i've debunked most of what they taught me i''m starting to wonder.. .
so does anyone have experiance with this?
Haha, I'd not try it just yet. I'm still getting used to saying Merry Christmas. I know some people that have tried it. E.g. my colleague smoked like 2 packs a day and as soon as she saw a hypnotist, she hasn't had a cigerette, it makes her feel sick. This was about 3 or 4 years ago now.
I think it does work on some people, I also saw a load of students at my college freshers week be hypnotised but just for fun, so they were pretending to milk cows and stuff. It was so weird but cool!
I remember have fun times when I was little, I like how my dad made the meetings and the ministry really fun, by making games up to make it interesting. I liked how we learnt Sign Language through it as well. We joined a BSL congregation and I've made quite a bit of money from using it in the workplace, so that I'm happy about. Our cong used to do plays based on biblical events and that was fun, but then it got shitty after our family started to fall apart, then we were treated like outcasts.
Now I'm pretty bitter towards the whole thing.
you are told that if you "go back to the vomit" of the world, you will be miserable.. is your life better or worse since you've removed yourself from the organization's hold?.
I agree with Cantleave - life now is easier without having to feel guilty all the time. And also to have to explain yourself to people. Random questions like what are you doing for your birthday? Come out with us Friday night! Where do you go on Thursday evenings? Why do you leave school assembly when we sing a song?
It's so nice to know that you're whole life isn't being constantly scrutinised by other "imperfect people"
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT :D
so i have to go to my mum's jw wedding in 2 weeks.
it's not in a kh but there's still going to be about 40 jws there.
apparently it's "widely-known" that i'm gay and some jws have even told my mum that it's not wise to invite me because it will make other people (jws) feel uncomfortable.
Joshnaz I loved your link. It makes me wonder why JWs don't question their marriage ceremonies and rituals and ask where they came from if the Bible does not specifically state it.
For example, if it's superstition to have bridesmaids wearing similar dresses to ward off demons and evil spirits, why do they do it?
i predict a civil war in europe by 2012.. "we`re a religion of peace, and we`ll kill you to prove it".
islamism = fascism.
any questions?.
Why is this in the friends thread? :P
since i don't have the answer perhaps you guys could supply some?.
Personally, I've been quite selfish on Christmas 3 years ago when I had my first xmas alone. I wrapped up in front of the fire and watched as many christmas films as I could and ate mince pies and christmas pudding!
But ya know, you could volunteer in the morning and curl up in the evenning :)

Awesome, thanks guys! I will deffo have a secret toast to you Carpe and we'll send you the pictures ;) haha
hey did anyone ever not buy items or clothes with horseshoes on because they're a symbol of luck and jws don't believe in luck?.
hahaha i totally remember my mum seeing lovely greetings cards but as soon as she saw a horse shoe on it she would put it straight back on the shelf.
the same with necklaces and bracelets.
I like your story WTWizard! I also remember an elders wife commenting on my nail art when I was about 9. I had the female and male symbols on my little finger nails ( the same symbols used on this forum to indicate whether the poster is male or female) and she glared at me stating: "Do you know what they mean???"
So I replied: "Yes, boy and girl"
Her face did not approve!!

Then you can probably get away with dancing with your partner at Mum's wedding reception.
How can I?
