And all the praise they are heaping on the big Jehoober-Kahuna is forbidden according to him, having passed down to his failful and effete slave the message not to start facebook groups about jws or jw-related activities. So technically, in heaping all this praise on jehovaarh they are heaping shame on his name by disobeying him in the first place. Satan's doing just grand by all accounts.

Is it really because you said "praise Jesus"? Or because one of their mods looked at your profile and guessed you were an apostle of apostasy?

They must have thought the "fuck 'em" comment was about the 32 worthless worldly people who died .

Around half of those who voted in the last election voted for a ticket with Sarah Palin on it. Your report about miracles doesn't shock me.

Teel: How could someone be DF'd for simply supporting their son while he was in prison? Was he expected to disown him or something?

Do you prefer to sit on the pew in a church or on the regular Kingdom Hall seat?
by asilentone ini hate to sit on the pew.
i prefer to sit on the regular kingdom hall seat.
do you think it might be a good subtle reason for some people to convert their religion to jw?

You should make your living room at home your own church, then you can get exactly the right kind of seat to sit in whilst you are watching tv, drinking beer, eating curry, scratching yourself, and worshipping God in your own way. The best thing about this arrangement is that you can choose to be any denomination you want without searching round for the appropriate building. You can even start your own little agnostic/atheist church, which would be quite hard to find otherwise, depending on where you live. You can also choose exactly which kind of wine and biscuits you partake of. Think about it.

Non-practising homosexual JW's
by Quillsky inas i understand it, being gay is not a sin in the organization, only homosexual acts are sins.
i've never read anywhere that gay jw people are encouraged to "fix" their gayness and marry.. i've certainly known a fair number of confirmed bachelor types who live exemplary lives in the witness sense - one life-long bethelite i knew springs to mind - but are clearly (to me anyway) gay.
they've all been in the closet though.. i wonder if any jw has ever been out of the closet, but not disfellowshipped since they don't have sex?

Gromitsk: I appreciate you taking the time to write such a long and eloquent answer to my post. I didn't mean any offence in what I wrote, and don't worry I would never quote the Bible in matters of 'morality', considering it's a book which advocates genocide, child rape, etc. I think the Bible is a hideous book, responsible for a vast amount of suffering throughout history.
Anyway, I think you make lots of excellent points, and because I don't feel strongly enough about homosexuality either way, I'm just going to reiterate what I wrote at the beginning of my initial post, which is "[live] whatever life you want to" and I mean that in all sincerity . I would never deny anyone the right to whichever lifestyle they choose (assuming everyone involved is of legal age and consenting), and when it comes to sex my attitude is live and let live. I've had several gay co-workers in the past, got on fine with them, and it was never an issue. I didn't think any less of them because they were gay. And I know for the vast majority of gay men it's not their choice to be attracted to other men, that's just the way they are inclined, I understand that.
I only said that I don't feel 'particularly comfortable' with people of the same sex having sex, I didn't say I opposed it or found it revolting. I don't. But I don't have to feel completely comfortable with every kind of sexual activity that goes on on earth, do I? I mean, I'm not obligated am I? Some men like to have their penises rubbed with cheesegraters, or have their testicles beaten black and blue, the thought of that makes me very uncomfortable , but I wouldn't deny people the right to do that in private, if that's what they choose to do. When it comes to feeling ill at ease about certain behaviour in our fellow humans, sometimes we just have gut feelings that we can't deny. Don't get me wrong, I have no time for malicious and extroverted homophobia, my discomfort is a much milder feeling.

NPG? Isn't that a genre of computer game?? Only kidding, welcome to the board, and my advice to you is to get out of the jws now and start living whatever life you want to.
GromitSK: I hear what you're saying about bigotry against gays being endemic in society on the whole. People just don't want to deal with it. I found that a lot within the conservative Asian societies I worked in, particularly the ones where people had a strong religious ethic. Having said that, gay acceptance isnt exactly widespread in the UK, and it's one of the most secular and apathetic countries in the world. There is something about bum shenanigans which reviles a lot of people, regardless of their religion/lack of religion.
Can I just say, at the risk of sounding inflammatory, that although I am tolerant of homosexuality and wish no harm to anyone practicing it, I don't feel particularly comfortable at the thought of people of the same sex having sex with each other (and yes that includes pretty little lesbians ). I would never oppose gay rights, as I feel everyone should be allowed to live their lives as long as they don't harm anyone else, but deep down it's something I don't think is natural. I mean, biologically-speaking at least, it clearly is unnatural, unless anyone knows any men who have spawned kids from their poopenshaft hehe.
Isn't homosexuality, in some people at least, obviously an error/imbalance of hormones or chromosomes? It's undeniable that some people are born with physical defects (e.g. having two heads etc) so why can't people be born with hormonal defects? Why is that so hard for people to accept?
