ok, i need some advice.

i'm technically inactive, as many of you know, with obvious apostate leanings that via gossip in the congregation has me shunned by most.. recently at work somebody asked me what religion i am.

i was taken aback and instinctively answered, "jehovah's witness," then quickly added "but i'm inactive.

So appear to get all emotional...... tell them you are inactive because of some discovered revelations regarding the WTS history and claims but the Elders have told you to keep your mouth shut and to wait on Jah. You don't want to ruin your relationship with Jehovah nor get yall both stumbled so you think it is best that yall don't associate. Hug the JW, ask them to pray for you and walk away.

If they try again...... ask the JW if they want both of yall getting DFd and having no hope of resurrection?

Yknot, this approach is seriously fucked up.

Why would you buy Weed?????

if you had the legal choice... it's friday would you buy a 20 pack of beer or a $20 bag of weed.. the topic of never got drunk!

made me think would it be better to get stoned or drunk?.

i can function 100% the next day after being stoned...... i can function ??

I'd pick beer. Simply because I know exactly where the nearest store to buy beer is, but I have no clue about how to go about purchasing marijuana. (Or rolling it.)

It's not a moral or financial issue, merely logistical.

I never disassociated myself and I never was disfellowshipped (or whatever the equivalent is for an unbaptised publisher) as far as I know.

This struck me, because some of us don't actually know whether we've been disfellowshipped from this crazy religion in absentia.

so i wanted to post a link, but also post some of findings related to jehovah's witnesses.

for this survey, over 35,000 americans were interviewed.

From one fader (my project is completed) to another fader, I suggest you flick that switch in your head that makes you want to tell people that you're a JW.

Figure out what you are now, Christian, no religion, whatever.... and that's what you should tell people.

Thousands of people have come and gone from this site....is this part of the healing process???

i see alot of new names here lately and if you look at the log on names here there are thousands who have moved on....every 2 years the posters change.....some vent and leave, others stay on for years.

i guess moving on with your life is a good thing, i think this site helps...any thoughts?.

Yes.

Just done a quick calculation, couldn't be bothered to do more than a glance and paper/pencil thing, but looking at the Members list I'd say between 12 and 18 thousand people have signed up.

The internet being what it is, multiply that by ten, twenty, thirty, a hundred or more to account for surfers and lurkers.

All evidence points to more than hundreds of thousands, probably millions, I'd wager many millions, of people visiting JWN/JWD in the past decade. Remember however that many of those would have been doing once-off fact-finding.

Yes, there have been many, many thousands. Some have become addicted or habituated but most just read.

This site does very good work.

Bethel Rules

this was brought up just in passing on another thread.

but i wanted to see if there are any bethelites or ex bethelites that remember some of the crazy rules we had to follow when we were there..

At my local Bethel, not Brooklyn, there is in-house (volunteer Bethelite) medical staff. Nurses for sure, not sure about doctors.

Medication? No clue.

a common attitude among ex-jw's is that the watchtower will face collapse only when the money dries up - i disagree.

I know of at least one person on this board who has turned the tables on the WT by shunning his JW relatives. He's moved his family out of the country so his kid can grow up without the cult's influence.

Good for him but doesn't solve anything really, does it?
