Child beating
by Quillsky insome posters here still attend jehovah's witness meetings.
my challenge to you is..... next time you see a parent beating a human child in public at the kingdom hall, when there are two witnesses - you and one other - call 911 or the police, and report the parent by name, for child abuse..

Did you personally shun anybody? Experiences?
by Quillsky ini'll never forget being at a restaurant and seeing a df'ed witness, a previous friend, leaving the restaurant.. i watched him through the window, looked him in the eye and raised my hand, a bit, to say "hi".
i felt guilty doing it but at the same time it seemed like the only right thing to do..

Covering your tracks on the computer after visiting JWN
by Quillsky ini don't have to, fortunately, because i don't share my computer with anyone.. but i've been thinking, with empathy, about those that do.
how far do you go to stop people realizing that you've been here?
do you log in and out every time?

I had a dream about being in a Kingdom Hall with undercover "apostates"
by Quillsky inlast night i had a vivid dream.
i was in a kingdom hall, not one i recognize, during a watchtower study.. not once in the many years since i left do i recall dreaming about meetings, field service, or anything jw-related.
so i'm sure that spending time recently on this site inspired the dream.. so i was sitting on the far right of a row near the front, near the door, with my mother.

Do Jewish people still consider themselves to be "the chosen people"?
by Quillsky inthe old testament makes it clear that jewish people were considered (by themselves) to be "god's chosen people".
then that sweet jewish boy jesus came along and said "it's nonsense, we're all the same, welcome goyim.".
so does modern judaism still hold the view that jewish people are preferred by god, with some special destiny?.

Sarcasm versus irony
by Quillsky infor years i have tried to understand the difference between sarcasm and irony.. sarcasm is "the lowest form of wit", some say.
but irony is funny, or intellectual, somehow superior?.
recently i began to really understand sarcasm and why it is so very ugly.

Alice
by Quillsky inalice, i have a sense that you've dug yourself a hole on this forum and don't know how to get out of it.. you would probably like to engage and share your stories as most of us do here, and as you've done in your child abuse thread, but you've created an antagonistic persona that makes it difficult for many to empathize with your real life concerns and experiences.. i suggest that you retire your "alice in wonderland" moniker and return as a normal poster, a jw with doubts.
many will understand, and you may make some friends..

Let's settle this for once and for all...... is atheism a belief, a non-belief or an anti-belief?
by Quillsky inmy opinion is that atheism is not a belief.
it is a belief in no belief..

POOR ME! Would some crybabies feel sorry for themselves no matter what?
by Quillsky ini get a sense, especially from "sob story" threads, that some people would cry about their situations, whatever they were.
wherever in the world.
however intolerable (or not) the situation.. could this be true, or am i being unfair?.
