What laws are on your side (in the U.S.) so you can leave quietly

in another topic "just quit quietly - the law is on your side" there was a lot of discussion about how to leave quietly without getting tagged publicly as "no longer a jw".

here are some legal cases that could be used to show support for leaving quietly.. you have to first send a letter saying you're leaving that specific congregation, and that you don't want them to keep records of you.. if the boe says anything against you here are some court cases that make precedent for bringing a suit against them:.

I would like to understand the reason for needing the law on your side. We are not property, owned by them. In America people change or leave religions every day. These people really have no power, just the mental power we give them. Just stop going, walk away.

I did this and stayed in my home 4 minutes from the kingdom hall and witnesses living all around. The majority of my family are witness still.

I felt good not wasting a dime of ink and paper on them. You win mentally and emotionally, when you walk without as much as a good-bye.

Just my opinion, the emperor has no clothes on.

Well what about a day for a year and the old and new testament (two witnesses) being suppress and prohibited by the Papal system. Then when the pope was put under arrest in house confinement (Napoleon)the Bible societies of the protestants got busy. Didn't the Holy Roman empire rule for over 1,000 years?

My family has known I'm an apostate

i found out that my husband has not only gone to the elders, but has been going to members of my family about me over a period of a few years.

this piece of news is just so depressing.

i've been wondering how my family knew i didn't go and thats why so many of them have becoming more and more distant.

Sleeping with the enemy is disturbing. It will take some time to get over the hurt and depends on your personality and relationship with hubby but I would let him know that you know this and allow him to explain himself. I probably shouldn't be commenting because I don't tolerate disloyalyty in a mate, but I love being by myself too. lol Take Care

im so frustrated i could kill myself right now!!

im 15 and a couple weeks ago i confessed to my parents that i didn't want to be a jehovahs witness anymore and also that i was bisexual.

i had just gotten back from an eating disorder clinic and my parents decided to put me back in school (i was homeschooling before).

Hi Horseygirl12, You need an advocate, someone to talk between you and your parents. You first sentence shows your frustration. Can you go back to the school and ask to speak to the counselor. Tell her you need help and he/she will know what to do. There is a lot you need to talk about and growing up a witness I know most parents won't know how to help you or can't unless authority figures make them listen. You need to know there is always a place for you to go with the help of the social worker. I wish you the best. But slip away real soon and tell your counselor.

Human kindness

i hold kindness in high regard; it separates us from the drudgery of life and elevates those who practice it as well as those who receive it.

my family has been going through a big crisis for several weeks now and i've noticed a few things.

several of the elders have expressed their concern for us, shared a scripture and then back out to field service or whatever.

Scared of Armageddon?

in the light of the following promises made by jehovah, how can there be an armageddon?.

genesis 8:21: ... so jehovah said in his heart: never again will i cursethe groundon mans account, for the inclination of the heart of man is bad from his youth up;and never again will i strike down every living thing as i have done.. genesis 9:15, 16: and i will certainly remember my covenant that i made between me and you and every living creature of every kind;and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all flesh.and the rainbow will occur in the cloud, and i will certainly see it and remember the everlasting covenant between god and every living creature of every kindon the earth.. does it make sense to say "i will never kill you by a flood, next time i will use fire?

Amageddon is judgement of the system, not judgement of individual people. When it is over all kinds of people will recognize that the world is now under one rulership and nations will comply once they see what is going on. It is not JUDGEMENT DAY. That is 1,000yrs long, after everybody learn what the real truth is and can decide if they want to do it. Witnesses uses sriptures in the wrong place and when it is symbolic they say literal and have the scriptures in the wrong time period.

BEARDS: Why JW men don't have them

i know this has been dished over before, but when i was doing some research i discovered a couple of interesting points.

as far as i can find, there is only one wt article that implies that jw men should not have beards.

Some Bible Students that were teenagers gave testimonies stating Br. Rutherford and Br. Russell were not on good terms and Br. Rutherford was actually dismissed when Br. Russell died. Their children and others tell their stories.

He didn't want anyone looking even minutely like Br. Russell and if your refused to be clean shaven you were dismissed from Bethel. Hated might be a strong word from the testimonies I have heard.

Blondie's quote concerning this was the sanitized version presented in the literature. Many Bible Students still wear beards now and with so many doing so it seems normal to see it. None wear their's like Br. Russell however just normal diverse styles.

Who's the King of the North & South now?

back in the old days i used to hear talk about these kings.

are they still teaching anything about these kings in daniel as it pertains to the " time of the end?".

King of the North is Syria and the king of the South is Egypt. North and South of Israel and the book of Daniel is actually history that we can check.

The society has lost these kings because they are anti- Jew. Check history against each verse and you will see Cleopatra and all of them fit minutely what Daniel said.

In 1967 Syria was still a problem. Because the witnesses think God lies and goes back on his word to Abraham and to the Jews in Isiah and Jeremiah they have lost those kings. The Green book was a bunch of crazy.

Please Give Me Your Thoughts On Unusual Elderly Behavior....(thanks)

my girlfriend's dad who is 82 lost his second wife to cancer last october.

while she was dying, he secretly was seeing another woman, in her 60s.

long story short, a month after the wife's death, they both moved in together and in early june , they secretly got married.

I hope he has an irrevocable trust account like I did. When the JW brother married me he was unaware and tried to get me to put his name on everything including bank accounts. He wanted beneficiary changed to him instead of children. If your father refuses,like I did, the Mrs. will hightail it out of there really quick if a golddigger.

Also these are stages of grief and he needs to enjoy himself at eighty. But try to nudge up to him and say, go for it, but don't change the will until you have been married 5years. Normally, however he will spend it all on her and there won't be a need for a will. Wish you well.
