What about the kids who have married early hearing this? Hearing that oh, the society disapproves of your choice, ergo Jehovah also disapproves. That could be a low blow for many.

by Lady Liberty inhello friends... just found out that at the recent one day assembly they are now really discouraging people from getting married!!!!!
they will lose young ones like crazy if they start telling them that they cannot get married...what are these sexually frusterated young people to do??
you cannot masterbate, you cannot have sex outside of marriage (not that i would encourage it either, but...), now you cannot even get married?????

UNITED NATIONS CHARTER read in all congregations at beginning of SPECIAL TALK
by Life is now inthen 1 thessalonians 5 read about 'peace and security'.
the speakers instructed not to embellish the statements.. 'noble sentiments' was mentioned about the un charter but no criticism.. followed by the need for god's kingdom.. it sounded more like an advert for the un to me.
did anyone else hear it?

He did say though the Peace and Security cry may be made with or without real peace and security. It may or may not refer to the entire world; it may only be with regard to one part of the globe.
On the NGO thing, I wrote a letter about this when I found out. They responded saying they did it to gain access to the UN library that had many useful resources. They also said they withdrew membership at the beginning of this decade once they had compiled sufficient data from that source.

by flipper inwent to the post office the other day and saw this older jw , an elder, was outside holding the wall up leaning on it while being frozen standing there like a mannequin holding watchtowers and awakes .
i had one of my news releases from a sociologist explaining that phillip garrido used nancy garrido and the jehovah's witnesses to get out of prison so he could have access to children for sexual crimes ; thus enabling him in 1991 to kidnap jaycee dugard.
the title of the article is : " sex offender phillip garrido used jehovah's witnesses to get early parole ".

I don't know what your pain feels like.
But I do know a letter of disassociation from you to the elder body gives them the excuse to leave you alone, and may buy you some peace of mind. And you do not have to go into detail.
Many have avoided disfellowshipping by simply refusing to meet with the elder body and moving congregations, although this may not be an option for you.

If I haven't heard the whole truth, and things have been hidden or manipulated, then I'm going to have to ask some "dumb" questions.
'Nother question: What purpose did it originally serve for the Society to oppose traditional Christian beliefs like the Trinity and hell? Sure, you can tell you lots of reasons now that its established, but why'd Russell ever start in the first place?

Also, what's the opinion on this statement: A belief or tradition that has been in existence for all of recorded history of man has a higher probability of being true.

did anyone get that bit in the watchtower last week about no questions allowed what so ever!!

Mad Sweeny: It's a process of learning to differentiate the good material from the 'mind control' material. I've been through some tough times in which the elders lost their halos, and then the pioneers, and the bethelites... and once they are just other normal people to you, it's easier to treat them kindly and not be intimidated. (The intimidation is part of the mind control). Some of the stuff we're told, like 'be courteous to your family and neighbors' is perfectly sound advice, whereas 'don't read anything but the literature' is wack.
I don't really believe they are intentionally a mind control cult, but I do believe in the effort to be united and harmonious, they have gone radical against dissention, and some people have suffered unneccessarily at the hands of cruel men.
