A Favor, Please??
by AGuest incan everyone who's "following" me raise their hand (may you all have peace!
lately, those old familiar "accusations" have begun flying around, this time alluding to the possibility that there are "many" here who follow me.
now, i don't know of a single person who follows me, so apparently, i'm missing something, especially if there are many.

I can spot JW's a mile away....
by lalaa inso earlier today i was having lunch with my sister when 3 ladies walked in to the restaurant.
one in her early 20's..one in her late 30's early 40's and the last one maybe somewhere in her 50's.
when i looked up and glanced at them i said to my sister that i bet those are jw's since they were all dressed in service clothes.

("sisters" in dresses with no thermal underwear)
@WTWizard. How do you know their underwear wasn't thermal?

Why did the WTS stop having the rank and file pay for magazines? (1990)
by Joliette inwe had our po visit this week, and he was telling us about how the rank and file had to stop paying for their magazine.
why and how did this come about (i was born in 1983) so by the time i could get to the literature counter, everything (at least i thought when i was kid) was free.. .
was more of an emphasis put on voluntary donating?.

Try not paying the congregation WBT$ Literature Bill..
The WBT$ will cut off your Free WBT$ Literature, until you pay the Correct Donation..
@OUTLAW, I have never heard of a congregation Literature Bill. Did you make that up?

WT March 15, 2010 - Page 27
by St George of England inthis article to be studied in two weeks time, in paragraph 13, footnote says: "jesus is the mediator of that covenant, not a participant.
as the mediator, he evidently did not partake of the emblems.".
(note use of evidently again!).

TheLoveDoctor, Indeed that is how Mark presents it. Luke adds more details (or Luke got it wrong. Or Mark got it wrong...)
nugget, "Does it matter?" Could indeed be asked about most minor points in the Bible. But I do not see why, considering Luke's account, it is incorrect to say that Jesus did not partake.

Any comments on the scripture in Luke? It seems to indicate that Jesus did NOT partake of the wine and bread (after all, why would he need to eat himself?)

Charles Taze Russell: His Life and Times: The Man, the Millennium and the Message
by RR incharles taze russell: his life and times: the man, the millennium and the message by fredrick zydek is the latest biography on pastor russell, and i must say i am very impressed.
i have read other historiees on the pastor russell by zydek (all unpublished manuscripts) but this one is far better than the last one authored by charles redeker aq few years ago.
zydek is a catholic.. the author is neither a bible student or a jehovah's witness.

Has anyone read this book to completion? RR doesn't come around here anymore so would be interested in other's thoughts.

Why do we call Jehovah by his first name and not our parents?
by life is to short ini owe this question entirely to hadit but i cannot get this thought out of my head.
all i heard growing up was that we have to call god jehovah because they are many god's, this way jehovah knows we are trying to speak to him.
that is just one of many reasons the fds and wt say to why we much call him jehovah.

We could just as easily say "Why do Christians call Jesus by his first name and not our parents?"

Jan Awake, stating JW's are only true religion
by lostsheep82 ini haven't posted in a long time.
most trying to recover and still get my head straight, this religion when you find it's not the 'truth' is hard to move on sometimes.
my mom urgently needed to speak to me about a magazine that just came out.

Old Songbooks
by JediMaster inhi, i usually don't post here a lot but, i spent some time with my aunt and uncle last week.
he's df'ed and she's inactive but still makes some meetings.
we somehow got into how bad some of the new songs are and they both mentioned a few interesting things about the songs back in the 60-80's.

Why move magazine printing from the U.S. to Canada?
by factfinder inthe january 2011 issues were printed in canada so the change was made.. the wts spent millions of dollars enlarging and updating the printing operations in wallkill so they could consoladate the book and magazine printing at the one location.
it was in 2004 that they stopped the presses in brooklyn and began book production in wallkill.. now just 6 years later they suppossedly sold several of their presses from the u.s. and canada, bought a large new very fast press for canada and had to enlarge the printery there to accomodate it.. now the canada branch will print over 260 million magazines for the u.s.each year and all the expansion done in wallkill was for nothing.. does anyone know why this was done?.

My speculation:
Efficiency: You can print more when you don't have to switch the printing lines between magazines and books. I hear they have two shifts now for magazine printing.
No printing interruption when the society moves out of brooklyn (They can pre-print a good stock of books ahead of time, and use those supplies while they move. Magazines can tolerate less of an interruption).
