Terry, I think the 50% is very generous. Aren't there a greater percentage of followers than leaders?

My Current View
by Terry inmy current view is that half the world exists to reassure the other half that there is something they don't know that can only be found by listening to the first half telling it.
(and at retail).. .

A rational look at MIND CONTROL vis a vis Jehovah's Witnesses
by Terry inon the topic of mind control...... .
a child is disciplined (controlled) by parents, educators and custodial representatives.. as children we grow accustomed to this dynamic (being controlled for our own welfare) and we learn to adapt.. .
mind control is neutral in this context.. educators must seek to control the attention and comprehension and behavior of students.

Thanks Terry for spelling it out simply. I've find it hard to articulate how JW leaders use mind control. This is a big help.

How do JW's justify lying to people they call on?
by highdose inyou may remember my recent experiance with two jw's at my door.
they lied non stop to me and even when i pointed out their lies they still did not tell the truth.. do they really think that they will win people into their cult by lying to them?
don't they think about what will happen when the person finds out they have been lying to them?.

The ends justify the means...
If they said "Hi. If you don't obey and worship God that way that the responsible spirit-anointed Jehovah's Witness men at the Brooklyn headquarters tell you to, you are going to be destroyed", most people would think JWs are nuts.

conundrum for the writing department
by therevealer inin the latest awake magazine in an article "are science and the bible compatible?
" three men of science are referred to and quoted, henry schaefer, professor of chemistry, austrian physicist and nobel laureate erwin schrodinger and john lennox, professor of mathematics at the university of oxford, england.
if you do a google search of these names you will be see that all three have years and years of worldly education to their credit (which is contrary to all things watchtower).

JWs have no objection to using the world's resources to advance Kingdom Interests. It is "using the world to the full".

A Fabulous Analogy...... cup of coffee anyone?
by AK - Jeff inhttp://myriadhues.wordpress.com/2009/10/23/coffee-cup-analogy/.
a group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university lecturer.
conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.. offering his guests coffee, the lecturer went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups: porcelain, plastic, glass, some plain-looking and some expensive and exquisite, telling them to help themselves to hot coffee.. when all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the lecturer said: if you noticed, all the nice-looking, expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones.

The advice to keep your eye simple is a good one.
Simplifying your life allows you to focus on what's really important to you instead of having all this clutter preventing you from doing what you really want to do.

The offical Screaming thread for those 'still in' or with family 'still in'
by pirata inaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
that feels better.
thanks all for listening to things that i cannot say to my family or 'friends', the very people that i should be able to talk about anything about, without fear of being labelled as an apostate and shunned like an amharet..

Running away from WT-induced guilt, I now feel guilty for giving my parents one more reason to suffer.....
ele_lux. Just remember it is not YOU giving your parents one more reason to suffer. It is the "Faithful Slave" that encourages shunning as a "loving provision" (ie. emotional blackmail) to discipline (ie. make sure they don't influence other witnesses) those who have left Jehovah (ie. those that don't believe the Watchtower is God's channel on earth). Your parents are held mentally captive by that concept. Continue to show them love the best you can and maybe the will see the difference between true love (including the love that Jesus taught), and rule-based pharisee type love.

You do not need to quake with feaaaaar!.... As though great harm to you were neaaaaar!.....
My mom used to listen to this over and over to learn the Kingdom Songs. Thankfully they released the new Kingdom songs which have a more pleasant vocal delivery.
It's sad that the 'Governing Body commisioned but not approved for release George Benson and Witnesses singing Kingdom songs' CD never saw the light of day except among the underground channels before getting squashed by a Kingdom Ministry announcement not to distribute or download it.

how does nubers 13v33 prove that they were the same nephilim talked about in gen 6v3
by thumperspooner incan any one enlighten me on this what seems an additional scripture to support the nephlim exsistance after the flood since we know that this was a bad report brought back by the 12 spies does it not also mean that they may have not been the actual nephilm of noahs day but a stronger wilder race of caananites?.
i need all your input on this as i have started to question a few things and i want to make sure i get my facts right before i engage in disscussions with elders.
