may 2009 pg 11 , it says that jerusalem siege was in 607, according to professor michael jursa working in the british museum, but curiously if you go to the british museum official webpage, (in "search" put michael jursa) you ll see that it says the siege of jerusalen was in 587 bc !!.
Are we sort of validating the argument that if a person had the right date you could add up to the end of the modern gentile times?
For me, finding out the date was wrong, then calculating that the end of the gentile times would then be 1934 (when nothing happened), led me to realize that the whole day for a year and nebuchadnezzar's tree dream was being fancifully speculated on in the first place.

When I made my first post here explaining why I thought a teaching was wrong, I was quaking in my boots thinking "what if I'M wrong".
The more you study the history of the JWs, doctrinal changes, and how much they are wrong, you'll worry less and less.
Read "Crisis of Conscience", "Combatting Cult Mind Control", "In Search of Christian Freedom", "Captives of a Concept", etc.

some here have been treated terribly by elders while in the organization.
some were treated kindly.. why do you think some elders are task masters while others are milder?.
do you think they're all the same no matter how they come across to the "flock"?.
The problem is that rule-based metrics to measure one's suitability for eldership leave out a lot of the Jesus qualities. Metrics drive behaviour and thus the dominant mindset tends to be rule-based. Do you attend all the meetings, have a family that follows the rules, comment a lot, go in service greater than the congregation average, give good talks? You are fine elder material!
Some of the elders gravitate more to being Jesus-like ie. they care about you, and some are more to pharisee like (rule enforcement) and everywhere in-between. It's a mixed bag.
