she asked if we would watch it cause she knows that we don't think wts is being used by god.
i told her that we would watch it and send back to her.
One of the misleading points in the DVD was that Russell originated the 1914 idea. In fact, the calculation of the 2520 years had originated with William Miller, and Nelson Barbour has pinpointed 1914 as "the date" in the "Herald of the Morning" magazine at least a few months before Russell read his first issue of the "Herald of the Morning".
They do show a picture of Russell standing in front of a pyramid chart which makes a good discussion point.

were you proud of the expansive size of the facility and the huge amount of literature produced there?
were announcements made to you regarding production statistics and what you had accomplished there each year?

Nope. Don Adams is the president and the office of the president is an administrative role. Don Adams is not anointed, and only anointed ones may be on the Governing Body.
Nathan Knorr was the last real president that made "spiritual" decisions. In the mid-70s, a few years before Nathan Knorr's death, The Governing Body started to "govern" in terms of spiritual matters. After that Fred Franz, then Milton Henschel were the president's and on the Governing Body. However in 2000 all the Governing Body members resigned from their executive positions in order to concentrate on spiritual matters. At that time Don Adams became the Watchtower president.

MLE, I think most here make fun of window washing, not because of anything with the profession itself, but rather what the profession itself represents in the JW community. It usually represents people who have sacrificed pursuing their skills, desires and talents in order to Pioneer.
Window Washing in itself can be a very well-paying and flexible business. I remember reading a guide on how to get into the window-washing business as a way to escape the 9-to-5 grind and have more time to pursue your interests.

Yes. If you are invited to Judicial Comittees, but keep refusing to come, they can decide to DF you in abstentia.

In my locale, witnesses are into Electrical Engineering, Sales, Property Management, Mechanics, Electricians, Accounting, Architecture, Window Washing, Marketing, Interior Design, Teaching, etc.
We have number of witnesses who did not follow the Faithful Slave's advice and went to university. They may have been looked down upon when they were going (or they had the excuse that their parents were making them go), but those who kept active in the truth are informally looked up to because they are educated and witnesses.
in recent years the assemblies started to feature a new kind of demonstration on stage: the soliloquy, where inner thoughts and reasonings of the character are uttered aloud for the benefit of the audience.
usually the plot is something like this:.
1. the character (a brother, a sister, a youngster) starts with indulging in a selfish/materialistic/unspiritual thought/plan.
What makes it so ironic, is that the very point of that soliloquy, is what I'm struggling with now. I'm getting ready to do the exact opposite of what my character on the soliloquy did.
Ha ha. Did you have the soliloquy were you googled something theocratic and an apostate website came up? You were so shocked that were saying lies and bad things about the organization that you immediately closed your web browser?
