Interesting. A guy I know was away from meetings for the best part of 10 years, and has recently felt guilty and resumed attendance and witnessing. His daughter was playing basketball with mine and was just fantastic, a real star. I'm very curious to know if she'll be playing this season.

It's just appalling: no scriptural basis, no explanation, just a burden of guilt. "With similar rationalizing, one might share in extracurricular sports or clubs at school...."

There is no room for inidvidual choice in this religion, no room for personal conscience. They alone decide what is permissible. Anyone who comes to a different decision is rationalizing.

Worst part: those reading this slop at the meeting won't think "WTF?" They'll just feel guilty.

The WT plays the blame game.

i was thinking about this yesterday.

when the wt claims that they are spirit-directed (not inspired mind you, whatever that means), and then they go and make a mistake, change doctrines and/or flip flop, where do they lay the blame?

do they say that they were the ones to make the mistake, or do they shift their blame elsewhere?

Not quite. They blamed the 1975 debacle on the Witnesses themselves for believing it. It was all their fault for expecting it apparently.

took mother to a meeting one time and this lady asks me "are you one of us?

" i looked at her like, i don't know man, i just come down from outer space, are you one of us... and she rephrased her guestion to "are you baptized?

" i said no... felt like saying no i wouldn't want to be one of you!

Fair point, trueblue. You'd think Jesus would have told him, "I'll see you in paradise ... after you've gone and knocked on some doors and placed some literature in imitation of ... well, me, I suppose!"

so an apostabuddy wanted to stage a silent protest at the assembly hall where she was baptized.

we went today.

the plan was to wear these apostate t-shirts that had stuff printed on them about thinking for yourself, and a bunch of websites.

Great stuff, serenitynow.

They stayed in their seat because they were (a) petrified of what might eventuate and (b) because the WTS had never given them instructions on what to do in the event of a brazen apostate appearing in their midst. No one was game to make the first move and stand up.

regarding the anointed, the gb recently said this: .

the whole fds and the gb representing them is a huge jump of impossible logic.... if the wt do not by their own admission, count the annointed nor know how many real ones there are, if they dont consult the remaining ones, the faithful slave how the hell can the gb 'represent' them?.

i mean, how can i for example tell the world that i represent the people of my town in parliment if not only have they never met me, i have never so much as asked one single towns person anything?

if i don't even know how many people live in my town?

Of course there will be a transcript. The June 8 meeting had a transcript, and so do depositions, so why wouldn't these hearings?

What took place on June 8 was a publlic hearing by the Victorian government's inquiry into protecting vunerable children. It had nothing to do with the magistrates court. No one in the magistrates court in Morwell will have been recording the conversations for a transcript.
