Many of these points have been previously addressed. The case is criminal, not civil. I doubt whether anything would have been taped to date because they are only mentions, an administrative process. Unthank has no lawyer: he has been the prosecutor so far. The WT law firm, Vincent Toole Solicitors, is headed by Vin Toole, who lives and works at Bethel. It is most unikely he would cooperate with any outside request.

In The Golden Age (March/April 1935) dear old Clayton Woodworth published a three-part article claiming the calendar was the work of the devil. His solution: a new "theocratic" calendar replacing the names of all the days of the week (drawn, naturally, from pagan gods) to new ones: Lightday, Heavenday, Earthday, Starday, Lifeday, Mansday and Godsday.
The months of the year were also renamed in a calendar that started the year in the (northern) spring. Those months would be called Redemption, Life, Visitment, Freedom, Vindication, Hope, King, Peace, Order, Logos, Jehovah and Temple.
Since Woodworth was part of the faithful slave class and therefore in direct receipt of God's new light, it's odd that it was never adopted. In the end, I guess they just decided to compromise with Satan's world for the sake of convenience.

God is very displeased if you celebrate Mothers Day. It is linked with pagan gods. The WTS even gave the faithful a reference from a 1950s Encyclopedia Britannica in the Reasoning Book to prove it.

"Theocratic Warfare" and the Annual Report
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inone of the things i certainly noticed as a jw, and even during the time i was in bethel, was the complexities of reporting "truth.".
beginning with an observation on a personal level, i consider myself an honest person.
but something happened along the way, beginning when i pioneered.

Sigh. And they say their organisation is modelled on the first century Christians. Any current JWs visiting this forum will know the truth of the comments here and can only admit that so much of their religion is all about appearances.

No matter what, the brothers could not get the corpse to straighten up.
Curious indeed. Why were "the brothers" struggling to straighten a corpse? I would have thought that would be a job for the undertakers. I'd hate to think this is an urban myth.

by punkofnice inis it me or do i notice that all the weird and hateful cultish statements are now appearing in the 'study edition' washtowels?.

Teary, it's a members-only version of The Watchtower because its intended audience is Jehovah's Witnesses who attend meetings. As opposed to the public version, whose intended audience is the public. As you well know.

Hence the Melbourne Herald Sun's "mentally diseased" article pointing out that it appeared in a "members-only version of The Watchtower."

WT Flip-Flops on JesusÂ’ InspectionÂ… Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Straight from the September Watchtower. How can they print this without blushing?
by nicolaou inthe watchtower september 1, 2010 11. .
the dangers of being deceived (page 10/11).
to deceive, says one dictionary, means to cause to accept as true or valid what is false or invalid.

In the light of "new understandings" about the existence of the faithful and discreet slave, I just thought I'd resurrect this thread.
It's actually quite funny: the Governing Body approving an article about how sad it is that people allow themselves to be deceived. Just read that excerpt in the first post on this thread again. Really, words fail me.

Joey, that elder needs to read Ray Franz's In Search of Christian Freedom. Franz, of course, was a member of the Governing Body, so he was in a position to know.
On pages 152 to 164 he explicitly deals with the widespread perception among Witnesses that anointed JWs pass on their thoughts to headquarters and that these are then translated into doctrinal shifts. Franz says there is no such process, and that letters from anointed JWs are treated with no more interest at Bethel than are letters from anyone else.
The WTS has explicitly said no global network of anointed Witnesses exists to reveal new spiritual truths, and that those members of the "slave class" outside the Governing Body are not consulted when making decisions. For references see "The Faithful Steward and Its Governing Body", The Watchtower, June 15, 2009, page 24, and "Be Obedient to Those Taking the Lead", The Watchtower, September 15, 1989, page 21, paragraph 5.
