This is a topic that I have researched about (on the internet) in the past. I disagree that it is a brain issue [either from dying or oxygen depravity]. Why I state that it is not in our head is because there have been numerous examples of people knowing what others were doing around or near them while they were unconscious or otherwise not privy to someone else's conversations or situations. Yet many of these people wake up knowing things that they could not have known.
I have read of people having these near death experiences being in hell or heaven or just with loved ones. The other thing that I have found is that many also state that their experience was very Christian oriented. Meaning that they were aware of a savior that most agreed [no matter what their faith] that this savior was a Christ like figure.
That said, I think it is entirely possible that many of these people are full of it. Anyone could say "I saw a light and felt loved and etcetc'
Just my humble opinion
who do these people think they are!
?i have only been on this site for a couple months, and dealing with all the reactions of jws to my being removed as a publisher(for the second time) and my husband being df'd.
lucky for me i have 2 sets of grandparents that still support my life whatever i do as well as some aunts uncles and cousins.
Ghiagirl I'm so sorry to hear of the trials that you and your husband are going thru. I admire your strength to do the right thing for your child.
Sick to your stomach? Absolutely!
I'm not a JW, but my brother and his family are; and I worry about his grandchildren now and how they won't have a chance at a productive life. Just all waiting for God's judgement. What an awful existence.
You MUST do something to change that course and you have. I'm so sorry that it comes with these conditions, but you are doing what is true and right imho.
i attended my brother and sister in laws' baptism at a kingdom hall a number of years ago.
i was [am] not a jw so when i arrived i was bombarded with attention from the flock to which i politely stated that i was there to see my brother and his wife.
it seemed like the distraction was intentional.

Thanks One Eye and Confuzzle. I guess I have become a bit cynical against the WTS on ALL matters. I wonder why....ok, no I don't

Hello all,
I attended my brother and sister in laws' baptism at a kingdom hall a number of years ago. I was [am] not a JW so when I arrived I was bombarded with attention from the flock to which I politely stated that I was there to see my brother and his wife. It seemed like the distraction was intentional. I had my camera to take pics because my bro told me how important this was to him [I was unaware of the WTS policies at the time]. I was NOT able to get pics for them because of how much the cong had kept my attention until after the baptism.
My question is this. Was that an intentional ploy to keep me from witnessing the invalid baptism? I ask this because JWs are baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and God's spirit directed org.
Just asking if this rings a bell with anyone
yes a big happy easter to all the ex j-dubs........and to all those that want to be ex j-dubs.
from so many posts and conversations on here, you'd think over 1/2 the posters here possess doctorates in theology, physics, biology, etc.
i'm curious aside from the books and research people have done here, what degrees they have.
to start, i just got an aa and going straight through full time to an mba.
adjusted knowledge: Though I think credentials are important and add weight to a person's argument, I also think a well read person with life experience is just as qualified
I disagree. Although it can be true. The problem is that where are they getting their reading material? Is it an accredited source of information? Matt Damon was well read in that movie {good will hunting], in that rare case, Matt was just as qualified [or perhaps more so] than his Harvard U neighbors. Usually being well read in things like WTS biblical history does not qualify a person as being well read. Sorry, a degrees in any particular field by a legit source is the best way to go if you really want to know.
imho
happy easter!
my husband and i who are former jws are starting a new bible discussion group on sundays @1pm, south of boston.
we will begin the group on sunday may 3rd.
Keep the agenda to yourself would be my advice. Read the books of the bible in a complete way as opposed to using specific scriptures to convey a particular point would be paramount to having a legit bible study in my 100% unsolicited opinion.

why didn't jesus ever write anything?
why are there no letters to jesus?
no painting of jesus from that time?
It is as unlikely as anything else for a man to claim to be God..... [sorry, but Jesus not only claimed to be God,but he also never disputed anyone else's claim either] ,,,,that aside.
I have to think that a myth would have been weeded out during the first torture sessions.
Instead, 2000 years later people are still believing that a man claiming to be God died for the forgiveness of our sins. Right this second there are Christians being killed for worshiping Jesus.
How is this belief still alive I ponder aloud.
just pondering
