  “Even if this wasn’t the Truth, I need the structure.”

  i remember many years back a fellow ministerial servant saying this to me.

  he felt that even if jehovah’s witnesses were not the only true religion, the regimented routine of meetings and field service and the strict rules and enforcement provided a beneficial structure for his life.

  at the time i thought if this wasn’t “the truth”, i’d have no need for all that “structure”.

  With more and more people claiming to be anointed at the memorials, I think the next flip/flop will be something like anointed one are no longer as big of a deal. Actually, with so many ridiculous doctrines, anything could be changed at any minute, just as it has.

  Was Jesus disrespectful to his mother?

  the famous wedding/ water into wine scene where he basically tells me mother to hop it and that he's nothing to do with her is what i am referring to.. now the wt tries to claim that this is not disrespectful and that jesus says this in a kindly manner which somehow makes it all ok. but then the wt have never been big on respecting women so this probably would make sense to them.. but the fact is that in the ten commandments the jews were commanded to respect their parents, in fact if a child was disrespectful to the parents the parents were to stone the child and... if the parents didn't the tribe were to stone them too.. so by being disrespectful towards his mother jesus was breaking gods law, by not stoning him mary and joseph were breaking gods law and by not stoning them the tribe were breaking gods law.. what do you think?

  the wt's explanation of jesus's behaviour never did sit well with me.

  Maybe it's a more dignified reference than you may think. In Genesis, God refers to The Woman as the one who will crush Satan's head.

  Genesis 3;15.And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

  So perhaps the title of 'Woman' is not as disrespectful as you think. Word meanings change thru time, but dead languages never change. The Hebrew of the old testament is a dead language.It does not change anymore. Just speculating of course. I wan't there either

  Why are witnesses all so highly stressed?

  witnesses are so anxious, stressed, highly strung..... so much for ones who are supposed to be "the happiest people"..... thoughts?.

  I think there are many reasons why the ORG is Prozac Nation. Probably the biggest reason for anxiety and stress is that there is no rest.

  I think something as simple as keeping the Sabbath would work wonders.

  There is never a day of rest for JWs as I have heard JWs say 'isn't it even better to give ALL days to Jehovah?'

  The day of rest was given to refresh your spirit and body from God, not the other way around.

  There's not enough Prozac in the world to give rest when you NEED rest.

  he's an elder and wouldn't admit it, but his health and portfolio have drastically declined since his conversion to the jw faith.

  it is apparent to all who love him.

  I don't know about YOUR experiences, but for my brother and his family, going from Catholic to Witness was [is] a disaster. He's an elder and wouldn't admit it, but his health and portfolio have drastically declined since his conversion to the JW faith. It is apparent to all who love him. Now, this may just be a coincidence, but I am wondering if any other converts lost blessings [money, health, family, etc]
